Are you asking for ZT1 or ZT2?

 

For ZT1:

Almost every item that you download will be zipped (all of Tek Phoenix's should be zipped, but some sites don't zip theirs), so the first step is to unzip your item. You'll now have a .ztd file, and possibly a text and picture file. Any .txt or .jpg you see are just for your information, and you can put them anywhere you like. The .ztd file goes in your game slightly differently if you don't have the Complete Collection, so I'll tell you both ways:

 

If you have CC, the .ztd goes in your dlupdate folder, usually found here:

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon/dlupdate folder

 

If you don't have a dlupdate folder, then put the .ztd in your Updates folder

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon/Updates folder

 

Any .dll files you download go in your main Zoo Tycoon folder

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon

 

For ZT2, there are various ways to install the files, but here is the easiest (in my opinion):

Unzip and place the .z2f file in your Zoo Tycoon folder, which is usually found here:

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Zoo Tycoon 2 folder

I also have a problem. I downloaded a couple things and they do show up in the zootycoon_com_zt2_1033 folder. But they don't show in the game. And I unzipped them too. I was told to open all that stuff and download from the Zoo Tycoon site and it would make things right. But I got Zoo Keepers Collection for Christmas and all the downloads are on that game. What now? Will the demo's do the trick? Please help.

I've tried installing the ZT2 items by putting them in that folder, to no avail. Try the folder I mentioned in the above post... actually, here it is again for you:

I also have these kind of problems (with ZT2)

Some downloads I got have a "self-installer", the it say's "it is installed" but there's no new animal in the game :s

I'll try to put it in the file you said, and hope it works :D

I try to put an animal on ztc 1 and it just says the file is waiting to be written on the cd..and the animal is not in the game.

Don't think your file is in the right place, aliciaa. Refer to the second post of this thread. Hope this helps.

Don't try to put it on your CD, you need to put the file on your hard drive in the directory mentioned :)
