Kreek Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 hello all, I know guests see into an exhibit up to ten tiles deep and I've read somewhere that they see an exhibit (and animals?) from three tiles away. What about tanks? When my guests stand in front of it, they do not see the humpback whales, even though the lather swim only three tiles away. Five of them no less. I checked the little speech bubble at all the whales and all of them were empty. So no one has seen them. The viewing window is plenty wide. The funny thing is that I did a little experiment and threw a guest in the tank. (evil me!) Even though she complained not wanting to swim, she did also say the whales looked happy! Here's my question. Does the depth of the tank count towards the number of tiles a guest sees in the tank? It's the only explanation I could come up with. Except that I used the glass tankwalls and not an in game one. I do have pics, but not on this device. It's not a very big problem, but I was just curious as to what might cause this problem. The same thing goes for guests standing on a cliff, looking down into a bay. They do not see the in game sea lions swimming less then three tiles away. Again I suspect the raised tiles to be the culprit. But, not sure. Hope someone has the answer!
Fern Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I suspect it is an glass tank wall problem. I noticed when I first started making tanks that casey did some things differently from what I did. Have you got them raised? If so try them sunk into the ground. I will have a look at the files once I have my new computer set up and ZT installed as my old computer has been very sick and crashing a lot lately.
Kreek Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 I have the tanks sunk in to match the ocean. I do als have the observation area lowered. But I don't think raising this will solve the problem, since it didn't with the dolphins. Its good to know that it might be the glass tank walls though! Thanks.
