Hi!

I just want to ask if you know what items are included under "Zoo Upkeep Costs"?

I assume those are the costs for buildings that earn money (Restaurants, Gift shops, etc.).

I notice that my upkeep costs get higher in the middle of the month. I don't know if I did something wrong. My zoo was doing fine but now my zoo operations are resulting to a net loss.

Thanks ^_^

Here are screens from my zoo. In case it's needed. ^_^

EDIT: I have 4 buildings that earn money. The others are just scenery buildings, so I assume they don't contribute to the Upkeep Costs. :)

I haven't played in a while, but if I remember correctly if you click on a building it will say somewhere how much it costs each month to keep it working. The uptick each month might just be when those all get paid. Staff salaries might also be filed under upkeep costs?

Yeah but my upkeep costs reach 50+k lol! Too high for 4 bldgs and 6 staffs, I think.

Upkeep costs also include exhibit fences and food for the animals if I remember right.

I could be wrong though, I havent used regular fences in years, I use the invisible fence instead.

I'm also using the invisible fences. Must be the food then. Or maybe something wrong because of the downloads? Lels

Can you tell me what the working buildings names are and I can look and see if they have been done right. Or you can look them up over at Download Directory where I list that in the additional info for building.

From Jay: Most, but not all, guest buildings, stands, carts, vending machines, rides, games, and attractions have an upkeep cost, including those that do not earn money, such as restrooms. Scenery buildings do not have an upkeep cost. Offhand, I do not remember if upkeep costs are done at the end of the month, or if ZT remembers when the building was added to the zoo and uses that day each month to do the upkeep costs. Filters also have upkeep costs. Often, it is the monthly staff costs that cause a zoo to lose money, since many of the buildings make enough money to counter the building upkeep costs. 4 buildings and 6 staff should not have monthly costs of 50K. Animal food also has costs. So if there are a lot of animals, those costs can add up.

The Buildings are

1.) Oriental Tea House http://zootekphoenix.com/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=672

(I think it's included in a Chinese Pack that I downloaded. I don't remember the name though, as I don't sort my dl's, now I reinstalled ZTCC so I can organize my dl's from now on)

I also have that "Bird Cage by Jens" beside that tea house.

2.) Wild Botanical Garden http://zootekphoenix.com/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=2555

3.) Wild Herb Garden http://zootekphoenix.com/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=2564

The fourth building was an in-game restaurant that becomes available by December? Don't know the exact time/date.

I also have 2 of this building in that zoo
Wild Information Kiosk http://zootekphoenix.com/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=2558

Other info:

That zoo has 2 tanks with their own filters. The animal in the first tank was the Baiji that can be downloaded here. The second animal is the trout from the trout pack.
I also have the Macaw and Toucan combo download (forgot where I got that.) Harpy eagle (from this site as well).

The staffs were 1 maintenance worker, 3 zookeepers, and 2 (divers(?)).

The upkeep for those buildings would be 772. When clicking on a building in ZT, its upkeep will be shown. The wages for that staff would be 4300. A filter supposedly costs 50 for every time it filters. So the amount charged for filters will depend on how fast the animals are dirtying the water. There is no set rate, since different things can cause an animal to dirty the water more.
