HELP! ztd file wrong association

Help!!

Not sure how I changed all my ztd file associations to Adobe Reader but now I can not change it back.  The game still works but I hate seeing the Adobe folder. I'm not sure what the logo was, probably WinRar.   Anything I can do??? I have windows 10 and they keep wanting me to go to their store to find an app. to open the file with??

Right click one .ztd file then choose "Open With" and you can choose what programme opens them and if you also have the check box ticked it will change which it opens them with from then on

1+ Coeur de lion. The path is Open With -> Choose Default Program. Usually the box that comes up will show prior programs that you've used to open the associated file type, in this case .ZTD, so with luck WinRar will be there, and you can select it from the menu. If not, you can click on more options and see if it shows up. If not again, you can try and locate the root directory of WinRar on your computer via the look for another app on this PC.

rambling ahead:

I should note that archives, despite their nature, can be 'opened' with a lot of programs. I say 'opened' as loosely as possible because what really happens is the program tries to read the archive using it's own devices and more often than not that translates to a bunch of garbled mess. Adobe Reader is a PDF reader if I'm not mistaken so trying to double click on that file will try to open it as PDF, which won't work. They still work as archives, the internal data is untouched and fine, they just can't be opened without setting the default program as WinRar, 7zip or something similar.

I'm not sure how Windows 10 works but if you are referring to the look for another app mention on the menu that opens, it's not an actual app store, it's a manual way to find a corresponding program on your computer. Unless Microsoft really has gone off the deep end and made it so you have to go to a store to find an archive manager on subsequent OS updates. There's a reason why I turned off automatic updates so I didn't 'upgrade' to 10, haha.

Thanks, I checked that the first thing but I'm not sure what program I should use, Winrar or something else. I had this problem once before and I had to problem resetting the logo but in windows 10 I'm lost. I did find the WinRar program but....

The game still works but as I said I hate seeing that Adobe logo.

I asked Jay

Another way of changing a file's association in older MS Windows is to open Control Panel, double-click "Folder Options", click the "File Types" tab, and look for ZTD in the list. If ZTD is there, one would click ZTD, click Change, select 7-Zip or WinRar, click "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", and click OK. But that should do what the previously mentioned approach should do. However, with this approach, one can also click on ZTD in the list and click Delete, so that way nothing is associated with a ZTD file. If ZTD is not in the list and one wants it to be associated with something, then one can click New, type ZTD in the "File Extension" box, click Advanced, select what to use in the "Associated File Type" list, and click OK. But this approach can be a little trickier because that "Associated File Type" list is very long and lists file types rather than program names. In my case, I associated ZTD with "Compressed (zipped) Folder", which lets me double-click on a ".ztd" and MS Windows opens it like a folder. But that can confuse other people. To make changes in Windows 10, one might have to do it as the Administrator.

THANK YOU FERN & JAY,

The logo has now been changed.  Let's hope I never have to do that again:gaah_:
