hello, everyone.  It's time again to talk about something we all wish we didn't have to talk about.  Our quarterly server bill from Hostgator is due, as well as our bi-yearly IPB license fees.   After our security patch, host server fees, license fees and domain fee over the last 9 months, we have enough left in funds to pay most of the server fee, but the other bills are still outstanding.

 

For those of you who are considering donating toward Tek upkeep costs, please consider contributing through the PayPal button at the bottom of the main forum index page using the Spring skin.  We have been using PayPal as our main form of collecting contributions for 15 years and we have never had a single problem or issue.  PayPal is a safe, convenient way to donate and it costs only a few pennies on the dollar for the forum to use the service.  PayPal keeps our funds safe and secure, and makes them instantly available when needed.  I greatly prefer using PayPal because we can pay our bills directly, without having to wait for funds to be transferred to my personal bank account.  It helps me monitor our account by being able to keep site funds separate from my personal banking.  There is no bookkeeping involved and I don't have to worry that I have unintentionally dipped into Tek monies when my personal account runs low.

 

Zoo Tek  is alive and well today due to the generosity and support of it's members.  Many members cannot afford to financially contribute, but for those of you who can and do, thank you, sincerely.

hello members, guess what?  Yes, time for more begging and pleading.  We need your financial support to keep Tek up and running.  Unfortunately, our costs have gone up again due to the following notice I just received from HostGator.  The increase is not due to the host, but rather new tax laws that require technical services to be taxed at state level.  I don't know just yet how much our server bill will increase, but it could be as much as 10%.

It's time again for our friendly reminder (more like begging and pleading ) for donations.  Our server bill is due the end of April.  If you can possibly donate a dollar or two to our cause, keeping Tek up and running, that would be so very awesome!  If you need info on where to send a donation, please contact either Jan or me and we can forward that to you.

I could have sworn I answered your post Pukkie….weird.  We have several different expenses.  First, our server was $36 per 3 months, but Alabama decided to collect state taxes,, so it ends up being closer to $38, or roughly $13 a month.  Our license fee for the forum is $25, twice yearly and the license fee for the Download ap is $10, twice yearly.  The domain was $14 per year, but that is increasing to around $17.  I can't quite remember the exact cost, but I will check on that.   This means our yearly total needed is approximately $240.  Last year we had to pay some additional charges for security features, but those have expired now and I do not consider that coverage worth the expense.  If we have new security issues, we may have to spend more.  

 

We have never purchased designer skins for Tek, but with each new forum version, there are less and less free skins to choose from.  There are no free skins for the next software version we must upgrade to.  If we had more donations, we could afford to purchase a few; some of them are quite beautiful.

 

I pay the bills as they come in with what we have in our Paypal account.  We had enough to cover our license fees, which were paid last week.  We will have another $38 server payment due on 4/27.  We do not have enough funds left to cover this.  

 

If our members who visit at least once per year each sent $1, we would have more than enough funds.  To those of you who have donated so faithfully, thank you.
