I made a simple zoo today!

The zoo has reptiles Zone, herbivores Zone, large herbivore Zone, carnivores Zone and performance tracts!

When I looked at your first screens,  I got the sense that we were on a boardwalk over the ocean because of the many openings to tank that were level with the paths.   I like that.  It would be interesting to do a whole zoo that way over an ocean map.   I'll have to try it.
