Extinct buildings and objects missing

I just finished the back to the ice age scenario (extremely frustrating and tedious imo) and unlocked the extinct themed buildings and objects. I bought a bunch of them, thought they looked cool then I saved the game and exited. A few minutes later, I came back to the game. All the extinct buildings I bought were still there but they were no longer available for me to purchase, thus undoing everything I did to get them! Has anyone else experienced this because that's really messed up and I'm pretty mad tbh
