How does one create cor ZT1?

I'm good at creating for ZT2, but I'm clueless on ZT1, so, how would I start? What programs would I need?

well, APE and a graphics program , even paint works if you work at it. I use Paint SHop Pro. Look in the university area I think there might be a couple tutorials in there.
