Modifying Mods

Good evening, tek. So a question I've been wanting to ask a lot now that I know how to unzip, access, combine, and hypothetically edit .ztds is:

Is it alright to modify other people's hacks, mods, etc.? Most of it is kinda just fixing the tooltip messages and all for grammar, but especially in the case of combined hacks like Pixigger's Savannah Hack, the combined Dinosaur Digs hack by vnDragon, or the swimming rainforests plants hack, there are things I would like to further modify and edit to create a better experience.
