(Admin)Savannahjan Posted March 12, 2016 Author Posted March 12, 2016 When you have a new building that becomes a common type, it is a much easier process to program it using the in-game building code, making a restroom, restaurant, gift shop, etc. It is considerably more work for the programmer (usually Cricket ) to create thoughts and new items sold. It also uses ID strings that are available in a limited number, or at least they used to be. Jay and Fern may have discovered a route around that now. When Cricket and I make new items, we usually opt to give them generic programming from an existing item. Sometimes, the new item is so unique, we will decide to add all the 'bells & whistles'. For my part, I'm just trying to save lil' Cricket more work, but she does love to make new things when she has time and inspiration. Which reminds me I need to get to work on some new creations.
Fern Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 No Jan we have not found a way round the limited number of ids. Cricket you could look through the guest thought list and see if anything suits. Not sure we having anything that would suit singing while you pee. rolf I have heard of singing in the bath not the toilet. Nothing to stop cricket making a karaoke or sing-a-long building maybe where all the songs contain an animal and the fee goes to conservation. If we worded the ids generically enough several could be made.
(Admin)Cricket Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Fern, I like that idea of a new karaoke building using proceeds for conservation. I will start working on that :)
(Professor Emeritus)Professor Paul Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 f I have heard of singing in the bath not the toilet. Sometimes you have to when the lock is broken. My Great Auntie Gladys used to sing hymns; "Lead Kindly Light" , while we all queued, cross legged, on the landing.
pukkie Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 goodness me Professor Paul You just made my day roflol Just the image you put in my mind Brilliant!
(Admin)Savannahjan Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Our bathroom door wouldn't lock for a while until I got a new doorknob. Daniel used to take some form of media in there that played music and had it blasting while he was in there. You do what you gotta do. Paul, I think that is a lovely and precious memory.
Kreek Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 hello, oh all knowing technical zootek people. I'm having a problem with two files. For the start up of a new zoo I put the Uci's in my game and it crashed at the start up. After slowly deducting by removing files systematically it turned out two files caused the problem. I removed them and the game started. The files are both hosted here at Tek. it's the red wolf by Coolperson and the Tek wolf pack by cdl. However the weird thing is that the Tek Wolf pack I have used before in a previous zoo. (The ice palace one) So I started up that zoo again, with the uci's in place including the Wolf pack file and the game ran fine. So then I copied the file to my new zoo files, switched the dlfiles with these and the game crashed again at start up. How is that possible? Can a file such as that crash with another uci I put in that is not in my previous zoo? I don't need the red wolf, but would like the building. Could it be the red wolf in that pack crashing my game?
(Admin)Cricket Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 How many UCI files do you have in your dlupdate folder? If you are over a certain total, this could cause your game to crash.
Fern Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I have run the additional info program on the wolf and yes it does have a problem. 762b2336.uca date: Thu Jul 26 21:48:24 2007 ***** Error: cSwims is not 0 but there is no [AmbientAnimsWater] section. *** Warning: BehaviorSet sections contain duplicate lines. Animal Type: 762B2336Red Wolf I copied over your post to Jay and this is his reply: That Error could cause the game to crash whenever the animal tries to go in water. But it seems unlikely that would occur at start up. Their description of the symptoms is not understandable nor precise enough to troubleshoot. Maybe the "Causes of ZT crashes and how to avoid them by Jay" topic at DG would help them:http://www.ztcdd.org/DG/index.php?topic=5452.0
(Admin)Savannahjan Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 Thanks so much, Fern & Jay.
