AnkyloJoe Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Posted Friday at 11:59 PM Wondering if it's possible to modify the statistics of base game animals through ape. I know I can make an edited copy, but then how do I remove the original (so there aren't duplicates?) Is it even possible to do this in the editor, or do I need other programs to manually edit files? There seemed to be a discussion on zoo admin, but that site seems to be offline now? Any help is appreciated.
Goosifer Posted Saturday at 01:12 AM Posted Saturday at 01:12 AM If you're just doing edits to the base animals, you wouldn't need APE and wouldn't be very useful since it generates your project as a distinct thing. For base animals you'd go into the zip files found in the Zoo Tycoon install directory and extract them, find the files you want to edit, save into a temporary location, and rezip them. The zip files are all in a format called ztd. You'd then just move your repackaged edits into the dlupdate folder and they'd override the base files so long as you kept the original directory and key ID properties the same in the configuration you chose to modify.
