The_sagebrush_kid Posted May 28 Posted May 28 So I started to play a few games on Steam (much to my distaste for Steam-like sites.) But anyway a buddy of mine said if I start up Zoo Tycoon, Steam will ask me if I want to play the game via their site instead of off the game disk. My question is, if I did that would the game except the free downloads from here? And if so, how would I put them into the steam version.
Goosifer Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Steam is just a launch client. Since Zoo Tycoon predates Steam, it doesn't know Steam exists and therefore shouldn't have any of these problems. There is no "steam version" for either Zoo Tycoon. Still, it's nice to launch the game via Steam if you want to keep organized with your other games. It will also track your play hours if you do it that way.

I really know little about Steam and how it works. I prefer having the actual game disks and I am only going by what my friend says. He plays everything on Steam.
Goosifer Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Steam is like a Kindle (if you know what those are). On a Kindle you can buy books that get sent to you for download, but you can only download them where Kindle is available. Steam is similar, but it's games instead of digital books. 1
(Admin)Cricket Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I play several games via Steam. They've got some interesting ones. I have not tried Zoo Tycoon yet tho'. 1

Expand Yeah I still have my old kindle but I never read books on it. Mainly I just use it these days to play music on Pandora while I am working in the kitchen

Expand I started to replay one of my old games back from Commodore 64 days. Thats about it. I have to browse the FREE games section. I would love to play Planet Zoo but my puter would not take it.
(Admin)Cricket Posted May 31 Posted May 31 I have Planet Zoo. It's ok but still like Zoo Tycoon 1 better.
