luvmy83wing Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Agreed Genki exactly what it soumds like
Fern Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Fern,I took out the dlupdate file and reopened the zoo...I was able to delete and add/subtract items...closed it to add the dlupdate file back in the game, and this is what I got...what happenned? The files are there...they show up in the menues...but are not on the map...don't understand what happenened...do I start over and rebuild? Or can something be done? Caddie, I was very precise in my words. Caddie have you tried removing all your ucis and just looking at the map. You might spot the problem that way. I used the words just look for that reason. The idea was to see if there was fencing or terrain height that was a problem. By saving it without those files in the game does mean you have overwritten it. But if you sent exoticcats a copy then the original is still available to you from your sent email area or from exoticcats
luvmy83wing Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Fern he didn't send it to me. but looks like he could replace the buildings and probably be okay at least he has screenshots to look at
Guest Caddienoah Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 OOPPS! What can I say! I admit I didn't think when I hit the save to go back when I put the dlupdate file back in... Question...how should I have done it?...so as not to lose the places for the UCI"s?
Fern Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 To be honest I don't know. I don't know much about the map editor. But if you couldn't move at all with the original, then it could only have been used as a learning tool/reference to map making in the future anyway. Maybe in future you could zip a copy before making drastic changes. Then you can always retrieve the earlier version if you wanted it.
luvmy83wing Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 OOPPS! What can I say! I admit I didn't think when I hit the save to go back when I put the dlupdate file back in...Question...how should I have done it?...so as not to lose the places for the UCI"s? 1.) Should have taken UCI's 2.) open map with no UCI's in dlupdate folder look around and see if you could find a problem (make mental note of what the problem is) 3.) close WITHOUT saving 4.) Put UCI's back in dlupdate file 5.) Open zoo .... fix problem ..... save zoo with a new file name (this ensures youhave both zoos) 6.) Close zoo and reopen the newly saved zoo 7.) If fixed cool if not close and load old zoo file repeat the process above 8.) After fixing the problem put the map editor back in the dlupdate folder put in your gate svae close open check and hopefully wala your newly designed zoo these are the steps I used but of course I'm not an expert with the map editor either so don't take this as gospil
Yellowrose Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Caddie, never fear all is not lost. From the newest screen you saved when you took out the files you had added. Not a lot missing from what I can see from your first screens. 1) With this saved map with the uci's missing can you add to or delete form the map? Either inside or outside the zoo walls? 2) If yes, here is what I suggest you do. Add in your ucis one at a time in the places you had them in the first screens you posted (saving after each addition) making sure you save each one with a different name for each addition so you have the original you started with. After each save, exit to the main menu and load the map you just saved and check to see if you can still add or delete from the map. Do this for each of the ucis you had in the first screens. Once you have them all added again save again with another new name, exit to the main menu and load the saved amp and check it. If you can add or delete then you have fixed the problem. If after the last added uci you have the same problem then you will know it was a uci that caused the problem and you can just leave it out or replace with something else. Once you have finished editing add in the gate and save with another new name, reload and check the map. If all is ok then remove the editor ztd and build away. You can also now delete all the extra test maps you saved so you don't clog your saved games folder.
Guest Caddienoah Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 This has been a learning experience...to say the least. Thank you all for being there to help...I appreciate all the work you all did to help me, and all the info that I can use to correct the problem! It is so nice to have so many friends!!!! :254: :254: :254:
