When is enough scenery enough?

Hmmmm, Caddie asked me to add my tuppence worth, so here goes.

For me it depends on the type of zoo I am making. If it is a contest zoo where ratings and peep happiness is important then it would mean less in some areas. If it is just a zoo I feel like doing then I add as much as makes it pleasing to me and my mood at the time. Some zoos look better with less in some areas. The saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is really applicable here. What I like and what you might like may not be the same thing. It is just what makes you happy. You can share with us and some (but not all) will love them and that is okay. It is sort of like going to an art gallery. Some like picasso and some like monet and some like others. It is a lot like the zoo animals - some like real, some like fantasy, some like dinos best, some like marine best. It would be a sad thing if we all liked the same things as we would not get to see the wonderful variety of screens that we see here.

Yes, genki would tease.

Why not make a garden with no animals, if that is what you want to do. Just do not expect your guests to be happy. We have had garden screenshot contests at one of the earlier incarnations of Tek.

Here is something for you to try. It's something I've been wanting to do but with working and web stuff for the DD and ZA time to play is just non-existant at the moment.

The old addage Happy Animals = Happy guests will always be the case with ZT 1.

Try adding the scenery to all of the areas along the sides and back of your exhibits where you are not going to have viewing. Make your paths 3 wide and use the center path area for adding foliage and other decorations. Keep decorating to a minimum around viewing areas with just a little so guests can see the animals.

This way your animals are happy and not feeling over crowded and your guests are happy seeing lots of animals. Use small exhibits so you can get in more of them but still have lots of room for decorating. Add fountains at the crossroads where your paths meet. The guests will still have plenty of room to get around.

Hope this gives you a few ideas to try. And remember we all post our screens so others can get ideas and use the ideas we try so they can improve their own building skills and style. Don't be affraid to copy something and add your own touches to something one of us has done. That's what these screenshot topics are all aboout. No one will be offended but be very happy to see their ideas implemented and be flattered that you chose to try them.
