Chickndaddy Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I would like to see a tutorial for building exhibits and tanks together. After my first attempt several years ago I built a lovely exhibit for polar bears and placed a tank alongside it. Several minutes after placing the bears I get the message they've escaped. Apparently they climb over the tank wall. So I placed a fence on the outside. It didn't look good and I haven't really ever tried them again. Surely there is a better way to build the tank/exhibits. Could someone please make a tutorial on this?
pukkie Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I could try that for you although now you can do what you like with the invisible fence If you place that on the outside it won't show
Chickndaddy Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 Yeah, but I would still like to see what Microsoft actually had in mind when they made that an option. So I would appreciate that Pukkie.
TazLover Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 One easy way around them getting out is to have the ground portion elevated, either the full area or at least the part that meets the tank. This way the tank edge is above the rest of the ground and the animals won't escape.
Fern Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Yeah, but I would still like to see what Microsoft actually had in mind when they made that an option. So I would appreciate that Pukkie. When they made the tanks while MM critters would not be able to escape, the problem arose as to how to have water swimming animals (polar bears, seals, etc) use a tank and also land. So they made the tank walls change when it is level with land, so animals could climb in and out within their exhibit. You can actually see that change if you look. Because they can climb in, they can therefore climb out, so you need to add another fence to stop them climbing out of non-exhibit sides. I think if you play the MM tutorials (in the scenario area) this might be covered.
