Downloads Database Revamped

Just wanted to let you all know that I have started a new project in our Downloads. I am making updates to multiple animals in our database. I'm starting with ones that have errors, which can cause people's games to crash. Along the way, I'm also fixing animals with warnings, things that don't quite add up properly.

 

Please pay attention to THIS thread, where I have already started announcing the changes.

Folks, if you have any downloads (from Tek) that you know are causing your game to crash, please mention it here and I will be sure to work on them first.

 

We try very hard to make sure that all of our files are error-free, but some of the older files still need to be worked on... Which is what I'm doing right now ^__^

Another change to the Database. We have an updated section, now called:

 

US & Other Country Packs

Packs for US states and other countries

 

I have moved in all of the country-specific packs that Brandi and others did. I wonder about a few of the packs though. For instance, should the Yellowstone Park pack, which is country specific be moved in there, or left where it is? What about the Mardi Gras Wetlands, Obon Pack and Native American Packs?

 

 

I have moved the entrance sets by lierin, plus the coral formations, Tek flag banner and signs, animal arches and zoo carts from Scenery to Packs, and the park flowers by LA to the Foliage Packs section.

 

 

I would like to propose moving the Fantasy/Cartoon section into the Packs area as a new sub-category, instead of being off all alone. While we're at it, would you, the members, like to see the Scenery section broken down into sub-categories, such as statues, ponds/fountains, scenery buildings, observation areas, foliage, showcases and such?

 

 

I would also like to see a sub-category in the Packs section for our theme packs, such as brick, concrete, atlantia, stoneware, secret garden, etc.

You've presented some good ideas here Genki! Personally, I would love to see the Scenery section subdivided into statues, ponds/fountains, scenery buildings, observation areas, foliage, showcases and such. :th_hapydancsmil: And I think that the Fantasy/Cartoon section would be a nice fit under Packs. So would a section for the theme packs. Could prove to be very helpful ... :glitter_happy:

Personally I need to think about #1 more before I say anything. I think #2, #3, and #4 are very good ideas.

I think the ideas are wonderful

ESPECIALLY the subcategories for foliage, rocks, statues and such and one other where you stash lamps, waterwells and well others

 

I also feel the need for a holiday/event section for Christmas, Halloween, Easter, St Patrick and Valentinesday downloads

We have a section for holidays, Pukkie, with sub-categories for specific holidays :wink:

 

Jan, would it be possible to move the Holidays section into the Packs area, and still keep the holiday sub-categories there?

At the Download Directory I changed fountains to water features so I could include waterfalls and wells with fountains.

 

oBan is Japan specific so that is hard to say.

Yellowstone is a thermal area and the files could be used in various country settings.

Mardi Gras is celebrated in lots of places

 

You can break things down too much so.........

Best bet is go through and see how much you already have for a category.
