mrspiggy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 how can you find out what a uci animal needs, such as how much terrain and what type of terrain they need. What I see when I open the file is a bunch of numbers that I have no idea what they are. I could not find a listing of what is required. Such as, 20 squares of rainforest, 10 squars of dirt, etc. etc. etc.
(Trustee)ZooGrammy Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Mrs. Piggy go to this website and you will find what is needed for all the original animals http://users.skynet.be/wisco/index2_zootycoon.html
mrspiggy Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 sorry, I meant to say animals that were made after the originals. I have the list for the one's that came with ZTCC but the others like Dr. Rick, etc. made. I hate to just place a piece of terrain and wait for a happy face to show up.
(Trustee)genkicoll Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 There is a program you can get called UCA Checker that will tell you exactly what the animal likes and needs, although it won't show dislikes (the list would be too long) or items that are exhibit-neutral for them. (uci = user created item; uca = user created animal) I think you can get it at Zoo Keeper's Lounge. Fern will probably tell you more when she sees this.
mrspiggy Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 thanks, I just checked my file and I have that program, but do not know how to use it. It starts in DOS then asks for what animal you want to check and from there.....I just sit and wait, hoping it will work some magic and read my mind..
Fern Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 The checker genki refers to is a designer's aid for making sure the animal is made right. Jay made me an adapted version for adding as additional info and I have been adding the results to the animal listing at the Zoo Tycoon Community Download Directory. This version gives more info than the designer's version. Most (but not quite all yet) of Teks animals are listed there. If you can't find a listing feel free to ask me about it.
(Trustee)genkicoll Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I like to drag and drop the .uca (which is inside the .ztd file) onto the program, and it opens and tells me all about the animal in question. Take a look at the combining ztds tutorial to see how to get the .uca... or wait until someone posts an easier way to do it
Tasmanian_tiger Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Good point! I will see if I can add these to my site on each animal's page. It will be nice for me too to get an overview of my animals (and for compatibility with other animals.) I usually check what the zookeeper has to say about the animal, to see what it wants. But I get that it'll be much easier to have a list somewhere. Ooh, maybe I can add compatible foliage, rocks, etc... too. :th_hapydancsmil: I'll update the download on tek too, when it gets back up. (In the animal's description.) My site, for easy reference..
mrspiggy Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 thanks for the information. Since I don't usually use non ingame animals I didn't check out the Download Dircetory, oh my gosh.... what a list! now the only problem I have is trying to find out which animal needs 20% or more water for their exhibit.... the zoo I'm working on now is mostly water... I'll have fun looking through the list. thanks again.
