users guide to bridges?

Thanks to the creator of the wonderful bridges/tunnels pack! It truly adds a new dimension to zoo design. I am wondering if there is a user's guide? Just an explanation of how they work, or are supposed to work. I get the idea that the entrances are the key- the tunnels in between are just scenery, right? The entrance simply transports the person from one end to the specified distance. So, where should the tunnel signs go? How do they affect guests? What if you made a one way tunnel (only one entrance), would it work? Are there any right-bend tunnel sections or must they go straight? Can I use the intersection tunnel and somehow block off two openings (no success with this so far)?

Is there any way to make the underwater tunnels go through the middle (up/down middle) of a tank that is not at ground level? Will the elevated tank terrain squares work as a base? I haven't actually tried this since I don't have that download.

:help: Here is a specific problem I am trying to solve: I made a giant exhibit with two "observation areas" inside of it (actually an exhibit inside an exhibit). I wanted to make a bridge go from one point outside the whole to a fenced area within. Here guests could mill about and observe the animals from deep inside their giant exhibit. Then another tunnel led to a second fenced area, and from there a tunnel leading back to the outside. I put signs at both entrances to each of the 3 tunnels. Problem was, guests went in and got stuck! Then tired, then hungry, etc. I had to pluck hundreds of guests out by hand. Is there any way to make the underwater tunnels go through the middle (up/down middle) of a tank that is not at ground level? Will the elevated tank terrain squares work as a base? I got the message "tunnel sign is too crowded". Even when only a few guests were allowed to enter, they couldn't seem to leave. What did I do wrong?

Tycoon Mom. I don't have time to answer all your questions but we do have tutorials for all the bridges and tunnels.

Thank you Zoo Grammy! Knowing how the tunnel entrances and signs affected the guests needs was key. I think I understand now: my guests entered one tunnel, increasing hunger and tiredness; then went to the next tunnel, increasing more, and again begfore they could leave the exhibit to address these needs. Because the areas in between were small, if they lingered too long viewing the animals, more guests streamed in and decreased their chances of getting to the tunnel entrance (exit). The fact that it was a new exhibit meant everyone in the zoo wanted to go! I will try again and use the signs to try to make traffic flow one way. :frosty:

If you or anyone have any insights about the other questions, please reply when you have more time. Thanks!

I've been working on a zoo that uses lots of bridges and tunnels just to see if I can master them...I've stop working on the zoo because they have limits and the biggest limit is that guests will not go back the way they came....

so if you want to make an observation area in the middle of your exhibit and have the guests enter the bridge/tunnel and come out and view the animals, they will not go back into the tunnel or continue through another tunnel to get out of the observation area. They will just stay in that area and not move....stupid guests...

if you place a tunnel/bridge to a certain area, then you MUST have another way for them to get there or get out of that area. They need an alternate way to get around.... The tunnels and bridges are there if they want to use them but do not rely on them.

They guests will however use open air bridges without and problem...you can have them all over your zoo and the guests will use them... they just don't use the covered bridges/tunnels the way you want them too.

I like using them because they add interest but my they can be frustrating.

Another thing... I spent 2 days working on the zoo and placing underwater tunnels all through my marine exhibits with lots of different angles and forgot that guests only go in a straight direction, they will not turn right or left inside a tunnel....

would love to see your screens when your finished with your zoo.
