MaTT² Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Back to my zoo :) I had a problem with my savegames ... I don't know if you already met this case with Win 7, but apparently 7 creates copy of the files I use the most in temp files, I never had this when I was with Win XP .. I realized that when, trying to load my games, I couldn't find my last save in the traditionnal "savegames" folder .. After a quick research on my PC, I found a copy, not only of my savegames but also of the Updates folder (that's why even when I deleted some downloaded files, they still appeared in the game and I couldn't understand why). Detail (not insignificant): those "copies" seems to have a priority on the original files so, many times, I had to replace thoses files in the original game folder. Maybe it's supposed to protect my files, the most used ones, but in the end, I think this application just sucks .. :bored-smiley:/>/> Because 2 weeks ago, I cleaned the temp folder (as I often do) forgetting there were my ZT saves inside .. I only have my start save and, once again, I have to recreate a zoo :th_overreact:/>/> BUT I think it's an opportunity to reboot my project, cos I saw all the new objects created for ZooTek's Birthday ( :birthday:/>/> !!!) and .. I wanna use it ^^ especially the new themed grass pack which gave me so much ideas, and I also want to try the bridges and tunnel pack .. Furthremore, I think I'll make smaller exhibit or I really won't have enough space for all my animals ^^ I'm started again this afternoon, so be ready for the new firts pics !! :laugh:/>/>
fountain Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Sorry hear of the file :hexer: problems. Happy to hear you seeing the opportunity :bee-smiley: . Good luck!
(Trustee)ZooGrammy Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 We always enjoy visiting your zoo. It's so informative!
MaTT² Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Hi ! I finally reopened my zoo after few tests to reconfigure the bridge pack .. Here is the result ! I used (and abused of) the invisible fence, rock packs, themed grass pack and vegetation to give the illusion of something very wilde, as if the visitors were walking in the middle of nature, surrounding by animals living in their natural habitat. I think you'll see the change and I hope you'll like it ! The entrance didn't change so I won't post pics from it, but the welcoming area change a little bit. The result is less "squared" than before and more realistic, thanks to the giant trees coming from Dr Rick giant trees pack, and the cliffs coming from the rock cliff pack by RDingFT. The restaurant and picnic area is also different, guests now have to pass through this before starting the visit. I put a lot of savannah themed grass (I totally enjoyed this pack, you'll see it everywhere in my zoo !!) The Savannah Gate, now borded by two imposant rocks : The African Elephant exhibit (001) Smaller, as I planned to get many animals, I only bought a couple of elephants to save space ^^ (and money) The Olive Baboon exhibit (002) Nothing really changed except that it's smaller too. The Open Savannah Here is the main (and my prefered, for the moment) change in my zoo. I tried to create a wide open space giving the illusion that the big gregarious mammals (buffaloes, gazelles, zebras and wildebeests) live in a unique and large exhibit. It's just an illusion, provided by my beloved invisible fence ^^ and the themed grass allowed to create an area much more realistic than before. Then, the bridge gives to the guests a super viewing experience when walking above the savannah ! (well, I guess it could be in reality ^^) So inside, guests will discover the Thomson Gazelle (003) Cape Buffaloe (004) You can notice that they seems to share their waterpoint with the wildebeests ! Grant Zebra (005) and Wildebeest (006) Following screens in the next post !
MaTT² Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 The visit continues ! The Black Rhino exhibit (007) The Mara River (as the one in Masaï Mara National Park, Kenya). I thought, still to give a natural scenery to my zoo, it could be a good idea to create a natural fence between two spaces. So this river will separate the savannah herbivores area from the carnivores one, which will be created in the next days. It starts with a little spring with falls, then flews along the wildebesst exhibit and finally ends with falls, accompanying the guests while going down to the hippos exhibit. The Hippos exhibit (008) I kept the same concept of a glazed pool + traditionnal exhibit, with the falls behind the restaurant and the suspension bridge, but this time, I added some falls as if a river were pouring into the hippo's lake. The Girafe exhibit (009) Same than before, except that it seems obvious for me to use the bridge, allowing the guests to reach the same height of the animals. The Blackbuck exhibit (010) As they both like the locust tree with girafes, I created a kind of mixed exhibit with the invisible fence. I hope you enjoy the new version of my zoo ! I got many ideas for the carnivore area and I hope I'll be able to post some screens in the next days :-)
