How did you get in to zoo tycoon?

My stepdaughter introduced me to Zoo Tycoon when she let me try the game on her laptop and I was instantly hooked. I'd gone the route of first person shoot 'em ups (Doom's, Quake's, etc) and was tired of endlessly being killed. I had gotten Ceaser III and was visiting that for the second time for entertainment as my old computer couldn't handle the newer games. When she let me play ZT+DD+MM, I immediately went out and found a copy of ZTCC and installed it and loved the interaction. At the same time, I had bought her a copy of ZT2 when it first came out and gave it to her as a Christmas present. A year ago, I ended up with a new computer and lo and behold...... it could run ZT2!! The first game I purchased was a copy of ZT2ZC and got MM2 for Christmas last year. About the time that I got the new computer, I discovered the awesome ZT community online and have been an active member ever since. I'm not thrilled by the behavior of the AI in ZT2 compared to ZT and in most ways tend to prefer ZT over ZT2, but I play both when I get the chance. What I love most is the endless possibilities that you can do in either game.

Still fairly new to the game but I'm a very fast learner. A few months ago I was walking through the Dollar General next to where I work and passed by the computer game rack. I saw the ZT1 game and thought "well, I enjoy sim type games and am awsome at animal husbandry so, why not?" After 6 straight hours of playing the game that night, I was completely hooked! Ordered DD & MM the following week and have been building ever since.

My first contact with ZT was by reading a preview on a dutch website. After reading it, I started to download the demo (about 27 MB) with my dad's 56 kb modem (h). I really enjoyed it and I bought it immediately. I never finished it though. I quit the game for a few years, but I've recently purchased ZTCC because I couldn't find my ZT CD anymore, it's just a wonderful game to play during the examinations :D.

 

Now I'm busy with completing all scenario's and after that, I think I'll make some wonderful zoos just for fun.

 

Came in contact with this site by seeing the underwater tunnels on a screenshot (I was looking for some design inspiration)

I was in Staples and said "This looks like a pretty darn good game", So I picked it up and don't even remember when I stopped playing it. 6 years later, I'm STILL playing the game....
