Rinding FT Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Well I play zt1 for a long time but still can't understand these 2 problems... About after almost one year in game... 1. Some animals especially the felid, say they're hungry, but there's meat in the exhibit, although I place them on the food, they just don't eat... @@ So I sell them and buy new ones. 囧 2. Some zoo keepers walk into the exhibit, just look around and don't clean the poo, unless I place them by the side of the poo. So I just clean by my self after I have map editor.XD Don't know if these are the bugs, do you have the same problems??
(Admin)Cricket Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I have those problems sometimes, but it's usually with animals that have a lot of hills and water and trees in the exhibit, such as the bears and some of the big cats. Those messages usually mean that the zoo keepers cannot get to the poo or perhaps they are stuck at the back of the exhibit due to trees placed in the tiles where they have to walk. Unless you are using the super hack, zoo keepers do not walk on water. If you have water terrain in their normal path, they can't use it. Sometimes, the animals themselves are in the way. Sometimes, I have trees in the way. Check these exhibits and make sure the keepers have an unobstructed pathway to get to the shelters and to the poo. If not, re-arrange the trees and/or water so that they do. Also make sure that you click the research button and select staff education, animal care, dinosaur care and t-rex care if you are using dinos, and aquatic animal care and m. specialist training if you are using aquatic animals. See if that helps :D
Rinding FT Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 I have super hack that zoo keepers can swim~ :) If the keepers stocked, there will be a message, but no, and the keepers still look around then go away. XD All research finished, the keepers still don't clean the poo, I know smell bad, but you have to clean the poo ya~~(usually happens in lots of poo situation) 囧 I guess the foliage is too tall and the keeper can't see the poo.... About animal's hungry, still don't know why....
(Trustee)ZooGrammy Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I really think that the Zoo Keeper hack is the problem. I don't use it and don't have those issues unless a tree blocks the way and then I get a message that the zookeeper can clean up the poo.
Rinding FT Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 I really think that the Zoo Keeper hack is the problem. I don't use it and don't have those issues unless a tree blocks the way and then I get a message that the zookeeper can clean up the poo. !! Is it?? But I had the same problem before I got super hack.... :( I guess it's the bug of the game...
Fern Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Fire the keeper and get a new one. And make sure you do the research for the various keeper training as that makes them more efficient.
(Trustee)ZooGrammy Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 It is satisfying to fire lazy, incompetent workers ! I always use the ZooTek Research Hack and so I forget that with it you don't need to do the research for the Keepers and the Maintenance men.
Fern Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 From Jay: Since I don't actually play ZT, I can't answer the questions with definite answers. I can only comment by what my perception is, which might not be reality. I do not understand the first one. I do not know of a message saying an animal is hungry. The in-game message is: "... is hungry and can't find any food." As that shows, that message only occurs if there is no food. So either it is the wrong type of food in the exhibit or the "food" was added with a map editor, which should never be done because ZT does not actually recognize that truly as food. It is also possible the person was looking at the list of hungry animals. I do not know when an animal is added to that list. Possibly it is added when the hunger line goes from green to yellow. But some animals do not get more urgent to eating food until the hunger line goes from yellow to red. They might still get food with the hunger line in the yellow, but not as urgently as when the line goes to red. I do not bother looking at the hungry animal list, although I will pay attention to the one that says there is no food. As for the second one, there appears to be a limit to how many zoo staff will work in an exhibit at 1 time. To me, it seems that the limit is 2 zookeepers or 1 marine specialist. Because of that, I always assign zookeepers and marine specialists to a single exhibit and I don't assign more than 2 zookeepers or more than 1 marine specialist. There could be other reasons as well. I believe there is a limit to how far a zookeeper can see when they enter an exhibit. Sometimes it even seems that they can't look through things, but other times they can. So maybe it depends on what type of thing is in the way. For example, maybe they can see through foliage but not rock formations. I never bothered to experiment because they do seem to eventually get to it. There are some things that seem to help. Putting the exhibit gate in the middle of a length of fence instead of at a corner of the fence allows them to get to poo faster. Also, the staff research allows them to work faster. The staff research might also let them work smarter, but I don't know that for sure. Because of how important the staff research is, I turn off all other research except staff research so that the staff research gets done first. - Jay
Rinding FT Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Thanks to Jay~~ OK It's a good idea to fire the lazy keeper.XD
fountain Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Today I saw an example of an assigned zookeeper "blind" to 3 poo piles in his exhibit. The poo piles were beyond the feed and the 3 gemsbuck (sp) feeding. The keeper kept looking from side to side but didn't see it. However, a roving/unassigned zookeeper was in the exhibit raking poo near the animals. I paused the game, removed the roving keeper to sick animal in a different exhibit, and moved the assigned keeper a couple squares to the side and un-paused the game. The assigned keeper looked around then headed to the nearest pile --not the one the other keeper was raking-- and began raking as one of animals walked away from the food.
