Plumed Whistling Duck discussion

First, thank you to all of tek for your patience. Thank you for allowing me to hang out here with you and and for answer my insane questions. I know that I am probably teetering on annoying.

:hug2:

That being said I wanted to talk about the plumed whistling duck that was listed for download in Mrpcles zoo contest. I went to Ztcdd to get some info on exhibit building and I noticed something that seemed off. they are listed as requiring 55 tiles of space each and you need 4 or 5 min. I believe. that seems to be unrealistic and WAY off. especially when flamingos or even the other waterfowl that Mrpcle listed for the contest need only 15 and 6 respectively. Is there a particular reason this was done this way?

Okay I asked Jay about this and this is his reply to me, so the folders etc he refers to should be somewhere on my laptop and when he says you he means me. The ztu files were supposed to be at 3 sites, so I need to check Tek and see if the update was posted prior to the 2010 reload and if it was reloaded at all 2010 or later and if so which version. So poke me if I forget as I am working mostly on RL at the moment....until Friday at least.

For the plumed whistling duck, or for any other creation for that matter, we can never know why a designer did what they did. Maybe it was intentional; maybe it was an accident. Since the in-game sea lion was used as a base and since that has an animal density of 35, the designer had to go out of their way to change it to 55. But maybe they meant to do 5 instead of 55. Based on the description saying real life flocks are dense and being that the in-game flamingo uses 15, it seems more like an accident than intentional. Although the 2003 version uses 55, you asked Jordan to fix a number of the ZTU animals. This is one he fixed in July of 2007, and is in ZT-Archive\fern\Fixed_ZTU_Animals_.zip. In the process, he reduced the animal density from 55 to 15. In June of 2010, that version was rezipped to use better compression, although I don't know by who or what was used. That version is in ZT-Archive\fern\ztu-animals\ztu_whistlingduck.zip. I do not know if either of those versions were ever released, though I suspect not. I do not even know if the fixes were correct.

First, as always, thank you and Jay INFINitely. Ma'am you both are so kind and helpful in these matters. He is right, this could have been done on purpose, and that is fine but I certainly can't put an animal in such as this one is currently. RL always comes first and I certainly have no illusions or expectations of you looking into this under any set timeframe.

We have several birds that reproduce too aggressively. I usually put a number of males or number of females but not both. You can get up to your armpits in birds otherwise.
