eradani Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 i was putting flowers down in plant zones and zoomed out and look who i created... Teh Grinch!! earlier, i had a happy accident when i set the tank depth to 1 with some stuff i was testing. cUnderwater=1 ForTheWin!!
Fern Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Nice. It could be interesting to see how that bottom one would have looked if you had sunk the tank level with the terrain.
WaterDragoon Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 both of these are fantastic and must have been time consuming. Nice effort and what an amazing effect, especially the second shot.... :woot-smiley: :greenstars:
eradani Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 omg fern! you got me all curious and i ended up looking at the clock 15 minutes later and it was 5am!!!! haha anyways, what happens is you can make a mixed exhibit but the top 1 of the non exhibit parts of the tank show ugly ground. i lowered the terrain around on the non exhibit sides and it looked better. cool that the otters didn't care that the tank was minimum depth i put a deep tank inside a shallow tank and that looked pretty cool. then i put a max depth tank and made layers around it, each one shallower. it looks really weird from the outside corner of the zoo. from the side, you can see that the ostrich fern sticks out for quite a depth. too bad nobody could ever make a truly invisible tankwall.
WaterDragoon Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 beautiful shots, I can see that you put alot of effort into this and it's paid off to dramatic effect
eradani Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 warning about making sunken things go "off screen" on edges like i did above. my game kept crashing and i managed to get over to the corner in time to see a marine specialist go somewhere he wasn't supposed to. next time, i managed to get over to the corner fast enough to delete all those tanks and i quit crashing. making and playing with these has been fun. i'm hoping they'll be all tested so i can release them for my grama's birthday on dec 7.
Fern Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 too bad nobody could ever make a truly invisible tankwall. Zoo Admin did. Glass Tank Walls Nice screens.
eradani Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 that's the one i found but there's still a shadow at the very top and the frothing at the tank edge. it's very obvious where the tanks meet in that pic. i think the comment in the post where i found it was something like, "people have tried and that's the best it's going to get." still, the mostly invisible tank wall is better than nothing and i'm glad for it.
