From Jay: Since Jm_OstrichDimorph_Hack.ztd has f.pal and y.pal, most likely ZT Studio was used. It is also possible to use a hex/binary editor, which is how it was done before ZT Studio existed, but it is a lot of work. It involves renaming the new f pal file to have the same number of letters as ZT's pal file, copying the m animations to a f folder, changing all ani files in the f folder to use f instead of m, using a hex/binary editor to change all animations in the f folder to use the new pal file, and having the uca file use "f = animals/.../f" instead of "f = animals/.../m". As for having a volcano use ZT's animations but with different characteristics, using a new internal name isn't much more than a hack. That would be renaming volcano.ai to volcavnd.ucb, changing "idle = idle" to "idle = objects/volcano/idle/idle.ani", changing "used = used" to "used = objects/volcano/used/used.ani", and changing the cPurchaseCost setting to make it obvious which is which in the purchase menu. From me: I can do all the underwater stuff easily without making it a hack same as I did all the foliage so it is not dead on land. I have been thinking of recolouring some of the vents anyway.

It is possible otherwise the lions would be the same. I will see what Jay has to say.

We got permission from her family after she died in a car accident. Her files were updated and we also created some memorial files for her as well.

That sounds way less complicated but way more tedious than I expected. I might do that when I feel like. I also realized just now I forgot to take proper screenshots of the polar area, so I'll do that next time I start the game.

@HeatherL I got the young bison to use a separate palette now, but I can't seem to introduce sexual dimorphism to the adult bisons. We are still lacking resources on hex editing, but theoretically this should be possible since Jymn did a number of them. Anyway, I sidequested a little bit. This is a hack that I have configured a while ago but only got around to compiling them into a file just now upon a request from Khaydar. Underwater volcanoes are well-known, and they spew lava right to the ocean floor despite all that water pressure above them, so it stands for reason that we should be allowed to place the volcanoes ingame underwater too. Another structure associated with volcanic activity on the ocean floor is the hydrothermal vent. Sadly we don't quite have anything like that in the game yet. I decided to chuck the existing steam vents and geysers too so they can function as makeshift hydrothermal vents. Aside from tank compatibility, I also made them exhibit neutral, indestructible, and reduce their footprints for easier landscaping. I know some users prefer new items over hacks. While I don't have time to turn these into unique items, anyone who want to do so are welcomed to take a jab at them. Otherwise, the hack should have no impact on your old zoos. Credits to Pixigger's Exhibit Scenery for inspiring me to find ways to make more existing scenery items exhibit-friendly. The file has been submitted to Zooberry and should be available soonish. Here is an example enclosure, as a bonus.

No I have not updated the DD post but the updated deer is available at the Design Guild in the link I added. See the post above the one you quoted. There are a huge amount of posts out back of DD awaiting updates of some sort or another.

I just realize that everything was updated around 2013 now - I had a few, but did not realize Jay updated everything. Aside from being missing at Tek, the Download Directory also does not have an entry for the red deer visible either.

That version has not been updated. All of the ones at her old site have since been updated and released here at Tek and DG with the permission of her family.

Made some very subtle changes to the texturing. I'm really hoping this fixed some of the blurring, especially around the gargoyles. It might have lost some detail as a result, but what can ya do.

Old! => New! => Albertosaurus => Guanlong => Daspletosaurus => Gorgosaurus => Yutyrannus => Thanatotheristes => Nanuqsaurus => Tarbosaurus Thanatotheristes will be a scrub animal. All of its preferences are the same, I just added a line for scrub items, but it will like rainforest stuff as much as scrub ones. I also added a huge amount of colors for them! Do you want to have a try before its final release? 🦖🦖
