  1. Pern Dragons by Dragon Riders

Inspired by the Dragonriders series by Anne McCaffrey, this download contains three ztd files: Gold Dragon (with Bronze male and brown young), Green Dragon (with Blue male and blue-green young) and Ruth, the White Dragon.

    The Dragons of Pern

Starting with the planet's fire lizards, the Pernese Dragon was genetically engineered to be large enough to carry a person on its back. This was so that they could fly and burn "thread", spores from the erratic Red Star, from the skies before it reached the earth and destroyed everything it touched. These dragons form a lifelong telepathic bond with one person, thenceforth their rider, at the moment they hatch.

There are five colors of dragons on Pern. Gold queen, bronze male, brown male, green female and blue male.

Pern Gold (and Bronze and Brown) Dragon
The golden queen is the dominant ruler of the species. She only mates with the dragon that is clever or quick enough to catch her during the mating flight. Usually, only the bronze, largest of the males, meets these requirements. There was one case of a brown that might have been large and strong enough to last through the exhausting flight, but the queen tragically died before the flight could take place.

    Pern Green (and Blue) Dragon
The Green females are normally unable to reproduce, as the chewing of firestone - needed in order to produce the flame they use to scorch thread - renders them infertile. Since the final passing of the Red Star, however, the greens that do not chew firestone have started producing small clutches. Greens are only able to produce the "lesser" green, blue and brown dragons - they cannot produce bronzes or golds.

    Pern White Dragon, Ruth
In all of Pernese history, only one white dragon has ever been produced - Ruth, the White Dragon. Ruth is special in many ways, not the least of which is his unusual coloration. In the certain lighting, one can see that Ruth actually sparkles with all of the dragons' colors.

Ruth was hatched under unusual circumstances. All dragons are born by shattering their shells from the inside. In Ruth's case, however, his shell was tough and thick, and the little dragon was unable to break free on his own. Unable to stand watching the little egg and the fruitless struggles of it's inhabitant, a future Lord Holder jumped to the hatching grounds and beat the egg to crack the shell, then cut the sac inside to free the little dragon. Impression between the two was immediate. This was the first time that a Lord Holder had ever impressed, and a great blow to Jaxom's guardian, Lytol.

While Ruth is the most intelligent - and most unique - dragon Pern has ever known, he is also "stunted". Never having fully matured, Ruth is unable to reproduce.

Pernese Dragons are carnivorous, preferring nice fat wherries or herdbeasts, but will take any meat offered to them.

*Note from Genki: I recommend changing the name of the .ztd from unicorn.ztd to something less likely to be overwritten, such as sdunicorn.ztd or volcanicunicorn.ztd

The Volcanic Unicorn was updated August 28, 2022 by Jay to remove unnecessary lines and files, to make the preferred object tooltip work for females and young, to make two of the sounds work, to fix several typos and spacing in the animal info, and to rename the ".ztd" to unicornBySundance300.ztd so that it no longer conflicts with other ".ztd" files of the same name (even though this animal was made before those others).

The fearsome Cu Sith [coo-shee] roamed the Scottish Highlands. He was described as an enormous, shaggy, dark green hound. It had a braided tail and feet as large as an adult man's. The Cu Sith was controlled by and belonged to the Faeries. But it was different from the ordinary white bodied, red-eared Faery hounds.

The Cu Sith was created by sundance with some help from Loewenfrau.

  8. Kelpie by Ghirin

    Kelpie Author: Ghirin

The kelpie is one of the water spiritis of Scotland. It dwells near sources of fresh running water, unlike the each uisge, which haunts lochs (lakes) and sea-related bodies of water.

The kelpie is known both for its ability to change shape and it fondness for human flesh. A kelpie can appear in several forms. One is that of a beautiful, bridled tame horse (often black or white) standing by a riverside. Any unwary traveller who tries to mount the horse for a ride across the river will find him-/hersself plunged into the deepest part of the river or stream and quickly drowned, then eaten.

Kelpies may also take humanoid forms, such as that of an attractive young man or woman (depending on the gender of the kelpie) or of a hairy person. Both of these forms are just as dangerous as the horse form.

Kelpies are sometimes confused with the more benign neugle, a water-horse that also entices riders onto its back. Unlike the kelpie, the neugle will often let its victim escape after a sound drenching.

Kelpies can be captured and they make a powerful draft animals. However this is dangerous because when the kelpie regains it's freedom, it will often curse the family/clan of the person who captured it.

  9. Nihon Unicorn by Jordan

The Nihon Unicorn, which literally translates to "Japanese Unicorn", is found primarily in the woodland hills of Honshu, Japan. When first discovered, they were thought to be mystical, otherworldly beings that would bring fortune on those that managed to view them. They are still sought out by those that revere them, hence they have become very comfortable with the presence of man. This fact, along with their inherent beauty has made them them a highly-prized animal to have in zoos worldwide. Idea by Genki.

  12. Champ by Moondawg

Champ is the name given to a reputed lake monster living in Lake Champlain. Authorities regard Champ as legend. The state government of Vermont has put Champ on its Endangered Species List.

Champ or Champy, is the name given to a reputed lake monster living in Lake Champlain, a natural freshwater lake in North America, partially situated across the US-Canada border in the Canadian province of Quebec. While there is no scientific evidence for the cryptid's existence, there have been over 300 reported sightings. The legend of the monster is considered a draw for tourism in the Burlington, Vermont area.

Like the Loch Ness Monster, some authorities regard Champ as legend; others believe it is possible such a creature does live deep in the lake, possibly a relative of the plesiosaur, an extinct group of aquatic reptiles.

Lake Champlain is a 125-mile (201 km)-long body of fresh water that is shared by New York and Vermont and just a few miles into Quebec, Canada.

The Champ legend is unquestioned by many in the area and has become a revenue-generating attraction. For example, the village of Port Henry, New York, has erected a giant model of Champ and holds "Champ Day" on the first Saturday of every August.

As the mascot of Vermont's lone Minor League Baseball affiliate, the Vermont Lake Monsters, Champ became more prominent after the team was renamed from the Vermont Expos to the Vermont Lake Monsters. Champ has been the primary attraction of the New York - Penn League affiliate since their inception. Several nearby establishments, including a car wash, use "Champ" as a logo.

Two Native American tribes living in the area near Lake Champlain, the Iroquois and the Abenaki, had legends about such a creature. The Abenaki called the creature "Tatoskok".

An account of a creature in Lake Champlain was ostensibly given in 1609 by French explorer Samuel de Champlain, the founder of Québec and the lake's namesake, who is supposed to have spotted the creature as he was fighting the Iroquois on the bank of the lake.[1] However, in actuality no such sighting was recorded, and it has since been traced back to a 1970 article.

  13. Hairy Monster by Genkicoll

Hairy Monsters, though rarely seen, can be found in forests worldwide.

They are shy creatures where mankind is concerned, but extremely active and outgoing with their own kind. These feisty creatures are in constant motion, and never seem to stop moving. Even in a zoo setting, no one has ever seen them sleep. They tend to feed on carrion, as their need to move around so much would make it too difficult for them to effectively hunt for themselves.

Because of human encroachment on their natural habitat, hairy monsters sometimes find themselves in human dwellings. Less fearful of children, they tend to hide in a child's closet or under a bed - a difficult feat when they seem incapable of holding still, and one that has often led to discovery. Hairy monsters may find human children much like their own, or it may just be that they are crafty enough to realize that the children will run away immediately, making time for them to make their own escape. Either way, the hairy monsters never stay in human habitations for long.

  14. Water Spirit by Genkicoll

Water Spirits reside in the waters of the world, from oceans to lakes to rivers.

They are mischievous creatures who enjoy playing tricks on the unwary. While they never do any real harm, the pranks they play have caused many a sailor to curse the misfortune of having come across the spirits.

These spirits do not breed the way flesh and blood creatures do, but they will "call out" to others to come and join them now and then, bringing new spirits to play with them. They may, likewise, get bored and leave if there is not enough to occupy them, so if you decide you no longer want them in your zoo, all you have to do is ask them to leave... or make them a better offer!

Configured to like both neutral-habitat and bad-habitat items, these spirits will love almost anything you decide to throw in their exhibit.

Many thanks to Jane for the original .gifs.

  16. Skull Isle Black Widow by Genkicoll

Skull Island Black Widows live on Skull Island, which can be found off the coast of Sumatra. The foreboding name of the isle derives from the distinctive rocky knoll at the center of the island, which is shaped like a human skull.

This tropical island is home to many bizarre creatures, as well as those thought to be extinct by the rest of the world. In the wild of its homeland, the Skull Island black widow usually feeds on dinosaur young and unwary birds that get caught in its web. Extremely poisonous, one bite is enough to do serious damage, even to a full-grown dinosaur.

Like the domestic black widows we are familiar with, the male of the species is much smaller than the female, and lacking the distinctive red markings of the female. In contrast, however, the marking of the female is not limited to a red hourglass on the underside of her abdomen, it instead circles the entire abdomen.

These enormous arachnids will escape if not carefully monitored, so for the safety of your guests, be sure to use a sturdy fence!

Many thanks to Professor Paul for the idea ^__^

  17. Marvin Martian by Genkicoll

Description : Here is the much talked about surprise for pukkie. There are 9 sound files included, though you have to be patient to hear them all

Marvin hails from the planet Mars, but is often found elsewhere. He is often accompanied by his dog "K-9," and sometimes by other creatures.

Marvin wears a Roman soldier's uniform (a reference to Mars being the Roman god of war) with old-fashioned basketball shoes. His head is a black sphere with only eyes for features. The crest of his helmet appears, with the "push broom" like upper section, to resemble an ancient Greek Hoplite's helmet.

On numerous occasions, Marvin has tried to destroy the Earth, as it obstructs his view of Venus, with his Illudium Pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator.

Marvin will like anything in his exhibit, with one exception: He does not like the cold!

  18. Giant Brown Recluse Spider by Genkicoll

The Giant Brown Recluse Spider, scientifically named Loxosceles reclusa, live in large colonies. As opposed to most spiders who have 8 eyes, the brown recluse has 6 eyes arranged in pairs - one pair in front and a pair on either side.

These enormous cousins of "fiddleback" spiders feed mostly on creatures that have passed on naturally, scavenging at night. They prefer seclusion, and often retreat to dark places during the day.

Does not require a shelter, but will be happy with the rock cave if you decide you want it in the exhibit.

This spider is compatible with Jane's Autumn Alm, the foliage items in Catfish's Halloween Pack and all of the foliage in Catfish's Autumn foliage pack. Also shown in the screenshot are some items from Brandi's Toadstool Forest Pack.

This creature does not truly eat or sleep, it is mindless and directionless, seeking only to exist. Hair-raising to watch, The Hand is sure to horrify and electrify your zoo guests.

This creature does not reproduce. Does not require a shelter, but will be happy with a rock cave or burrow if you decide that you want one.

  20. Wraith Creature by Genkicoll

A wraith is an apparition of a person, living or dead, that may appear shortly before or after death.

In European pagan beliefs, the wraith is seen as a spirit of vengeance. They are said to be ghostly figures with long, sharp fingers. Wraiths are considered rare amongst the spirit realm, for they consist of pure revenge; yet not all wraiths will be truly vengeful, in that some are merely enraged to the extent of destroying anything they encounter.

In other corners of the world, the wraith is considered to be the reflected image of a person, seen immediately before death. This side is supported by elders' stories.

A wraith is also described as an image seen immediately before one dies, as if it were a variation of the "Grim Reaper" figure.

  22. Rainbow Unicorn by Genkicoll

These Rainbow Unicorns have been raised in captivity, and are thus very comfortable with humans. They are not shy, and unlike many unicorns, are very social creatures.
The unicorn's name comes from two Latin words, and means "one horn." Rainbow Unicorns today are somewhat rare in the wild. Historically, unicorns have been found throughout the world, with sub-species existing in China, Tibet, Japan, India, Europe and the Middle East.

The unicorn's horn is both the source of its mystique and the reason this animal is scarce in the wild today. Even more than the horn of the rhinoceros, the unicorn's horn is valued by collectors for its alleged mystical powers and healing properties. Due to the long-standing belief that it can detect and neutralize poison, drinking vessels made from the unicorn's horn were greatly prized during the Middle Ages. The horn also came to symbolize medicine, as it was attributed with the power to cure a number of ailments, including stomach problems, scurvy, dropsy, epilepsy and even depression.

This animal is fully compatible with the in-game unicorn, but there are a few small differences that should make it more enjoyable to play with: They do not have to have a shelter, but will be perfectly happy to have one in the exhibit (ignore the message that says there are too many shelters in the exhibit, they still like them ). They will like exhibit-neutral items such as user-made foliage, and they have longer life-spans than the in-game unicorn.

  24. Wonderland Animals by Genkicoll

Three Alice in Wonderland-themed animals for your fanciful zoos. All three are included separately, as well as combined. If you use the combined ztd, you will not need the separate ztds.

    The White Rabbit
Down the rabbit hole you go to the magical Wonderland, the place the White Rabbit calls home. The White Rabbit is know to be a messenger and a herald at the Court of the King and Queen of Hearts. He seems to have a time management problem, or maybe he's just in need of a new watch. If you're lucky enough to run into the White Rabbit, he'll more then likely be running off in a hurry to one of his many engagements declaring, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no! I'm overdue! I'm really in a stew! No time to say goodbye...hello! I'm late! I'm late! I'm late!!"

Original rabbit graphics by African_Raptor. Thanks, AR!

    Cheshire Cat
The Cheshire Cat lives in the fern-filled forests of Wonderland, a land where everyone, it purports, is mad. Its conversations are certainly maddening, raising philosophical points as often as it spouts nonsense. It constantly grins and can disappear and reappear whenever it feels like it, sometimes even disappearing and leaving its grin behind.

    The Caterpillar
The Caterpillar, eccentric resident of Wonderland, tends to speak in short, rather rude sentences, or ask difficult questions. The Caterpillar tells Alice how to grow and shrink using the mushroom upon which he is sitting.

Original "desert worm" graphic by African Raptor. Thank you, AR!
