Description:  This hack eliminates the egg stage for the dinosaurs; they come as adults. To use, rename the .zip file extension to .ztd and place it in your Zoo Tycoon/dlupdate folder, making sure that 'hide known file extensions' in folder options is turned off.

 

NOTES:

- Only works for official in-game dinosaurs.

- If the hack does not work for in-game dinosaurs, you might have a version where extra bytes are at the end of the ".ztd", which confuses ZT. Rezip the ".ztd" to get rid of any extra bytes.

- Although the download Description says to rename the .zip file extension to .ztd, that is no longer true. The download is a ".zip" that contains a ".ztd". So the ".ztd" would be extracted from the ".zip" and not renamed, although it still will not work in ZT until it is rezipped because of the above mentioned problem.

Is it possible to replicate the methods of this hack for user-created species? I'm a total beginner at modding ZT1 but interested in removing the egg stage for some addon dinosaurs I use.

Change attribute "cLaysEggs = 1" to "cLaysEggs = 0" in the .uca file (=user-created animal). Multiple programs can make batch text replacement (e.g., Find&Replace) if you want to modify several animals at once.
