The Melanistic zebra is a genetic mutation of the plains zebra, which appears darker than the usual plains zebra because its body produces too much of a gene called "melanin". These creatures are rarer than the albino and are a real challenge to breed! Enjoy! Updated: Now Darker to resemble more of a melanistic animal.
