How do guests pathfind?

One thing I just spotted, guests have a search radius of "40". It's vague, and I'm not sure what it means either. I would assume everything which is within 20 tile grids (if we assume 40 is a unit, which is similar to the footprint) is considered to be seen, or to be considered for "possible use" by the guest.

I once tried to make a zoo in which the guests would go around the zoo (theoretically) in a back and forth manner. The vast majority of them got to the X, then reversed and went back to the entrance. Very few got to the other side of the map and I don't recall any guests going all the way around. The zoo was filled with animals, attractions, and restaurants in the same way that has worked with the majority of my zoos. Also, for some reason, all of the guests turned right after entering. The zoo was beautiful, but I never could get the guests to cooperate. I even tried clearing it with the Alfred H cheat, but the new guests did the same thing. Hmmph

I had the same problem.

It's only a guess, but I think two options might be considered.

- at some point, guests are just so slow and they have simply been in your zoo too long. But the time span is actually too short to view the entire zoo.

- maybe it has to do with the shape of the ZT map and the distances being calculated.
