Fountain's Zoos

I have never used this free-form map before and I was very concerned with money.  I started with $500K and after doing the contest screen shot I made couple changes and built a mini-zoo to earn money and cultivate donors. The climate I envisioned was subtropical with a sandy desert area so flattened a corner sand pyramid to build the orangutan corner, added coastal birds back to the entrance, put in a gift shop and eliminated the Smores stand for use elsewhere.  Putting in a swimming area generated a lot of money!

I have a really difficult time planning out a whole zoo at once.  Plus there a new animals to experiment with and colors, foliage, and new buildings so the colors of paths are not overly refined.

Dr Rick's Rainbow Gum Trees above. Any suggestions on how to disguise the interior edges of the sunken exhibits that will not upset the birds and are compatible with the Invisible Fence?  I am using Borosanto (sp) birds Black Spoonbill.  Future pix will include Dr Rick's Oceania Invasion and Genki's birds.  it'd be great to have a new Shoebill and a Secretary Bird.

The entrance is off to left. The brownish-orange tiled roof & green arched building is Endangered Animal Gift Shop that sells prints of animals.  I expected the building to be more of a money maker.  Dr Rick's Education & Adoption, gifts off screen, earns far more money.  Simple canopied waiting areas on both sides of the entrance walk. The re-colored grid paths are $5/sq while the Aquawave Path and Hula Girls Pack Paths and Stormy's Hawaiian-look (not the official name) paths are are $50/sq.

Another angle from the entrance and those Shetland ponies on the right are popular, breed fast, good money maker, and healthy.

Below is reverse angle from the orangutan corner.

Here are more beyond the Pony Ride.  The upper exhibits Bactarian Camels munching on hay and Lesser Roadrunner munching on fruits.  The pale trunk trees are from RDFT foliage eucalyptus trees.

This is a test zoo where I tried new animals and is not a part of Ariznana zoo but is example of entrance.  Guest happiness is 93 which surprises me. Animals 98 happy.

I interrupt this Ariznana-inspired zoo to bring a few pix from my New Items zoo that I created for the purpose of trying out new downloads.   I got caught up in the building of it and started caring a bit about guest happiness that was in the low 80s.  I built the zoo so I could test size and guest reactions to new animals, buildings, flora.

It is first zoo that I used multiples of the same animal houses with different exhibits and where the visitor numbers justified upkeep.

I also learned that even though watching Bengal Tigers with cubs swimming in a tank is a good animation, guests do not seem to see them in the tank when the guest viewpoint is  lowered by a 2-3 levels. BTW center is the Capybara by Borasoto (yet another spelling incantation).

Guests go nuts for tigers in flat water mode + raised viewing height.  The same thing happened with Humbolt Penguins in a tank.  I did not destroy the peguin's tank but I did return the height of viewing to top of tank and guests were pleased.  I tracked this down by noticing guests had no thoughts about those animals in tanks while noticing the same animals when the animal was on land.

Below I did not realize I had created space and alignment for an access road by putting the animal houses so close together.

Easy to add road for deliveries to restaurants & stands.  I did pretty well with color interest.  Upper tanks contain the new sharks -- a real challenge to satisfy needing especially large tanks. Blue shark births 4 pups at a time in large, very deep tank.  Goblin and white tipped sharks seem to need100 sq for each adult.

I am most proud of the flower-waves to beach effect in the next two pix.  15th Tek Anniversary recolored flowers + ambient driftwood + ambient seagull.

I hate the cliff edges myself.  So I always use Jays Cobblestone Cliff edges to cover them.  They come in several heights and angled options and are an attractive fence for most decorating styles.  My only wish is that they came in a color to match the brown/greystone terrain!

Maybe Jay and Fern will hear about this.  I agree that some other colors would be very nice.

I have already had that on my long long list, along with a few other nifty ideas. I do believe there are at least two more man made walls of this type partially made. There is a lot of work in these though.

Also I have some recolours of genkis tower walls somewhere.
