Savannah Jan-inspired color theme

It's looking great! I have a question and maybe the answer will help me out in future tank building. As I look at the screens from the far view, it looks like some tanks are not the same clear blue color as others. Do those tank need a new filter, or is it just an image glitch? While I am working on tanks, I have trouble realizing when I have forgotten to add a filter or when a filter breaks down. If it is possible to tell the difference from the far away view, I can use that to check my tanks occasionally to be sure they are clean. I am the absolute worst at seeing the alert messages that pop up at the top of the screen; I guess I am so involved in decorating and such that I just don't notice them. If I can take a quick look at the far away view, it will be a big help. If it is just an image glitch, well, back to the drawing board.

Fern is correct.

I assign one or two maintenance to only do fences and tank filters. :aquarium2-smiley:/>/> I assign one or two to only sweep and empty trash. (I also put a trash can near the gift shop and the restrooms, the latter is usually near the ice cream and drink stands which are usually near to the restaurant and/or carousel and/or pony ride.)

I assign each of the rest of maintenance to do three of the four tasks they can do, e.g., empty trash and tank filters and sweep so there is plenty of overlap. I also leave one or half space next to filters for access.

And I check up on them and the keepers every few months. If I catch 'em wandering and not working, they are reassigned :snapoutofit:/>/> or out of a job. :brodkavelarg:

The in-game tanks look rusty, then produce smoke when malfunctioning. No matter the type of water, the water will turn green-ish eventually if there is no filter. The marine specialist will swim and filter the tank it goes green but it takes game-time week or so to clean and the animals will be  , then ill, then taken away :getwell: if the tank is too dirty. :sorry:

Fountain, the zoo is looking wonderful. I really like what you have done with the zoo.

SavannahJan, I too am bad at noticing those messages at the top of the game screen.

From far away, the tanks will become much more greener looking than blue when there is no tank filter.

One of the things that I have done (which may or not help you) is that I trap my maintenance workers. Under the Phoenix University section of this site someone did an article on trapping zookeepers and I took that idea and adapted it to those pesky maintenance workers (at least as far as tanks are concerned).

To do this, I let there be an empty row between tanks and at each end of the row I place a tank filter to the tanks, thus the maintenance worker is trapped on both ends by a tank filter. I just wish there was a way to do something similar to get the maintenance workers to clean up the trash the guests decide to throw on the ground because the maintenance worker was lazy.

Fountain, sorry to interupt your thread.

Thanks again for sharing your wonderful pics!!!!!!!

Wonderful pics Fountain. Beautiful use of space between exhibits, and great scenery surrounding all areas. Kudos on your expertise as a zoo premier builder. winnersmiley.gifaquarium2-smiley.gif

Thanks for the compliments!

However, I am bummed because after putting And1's Gobi mt bear and Perzweski's (sp) gazelle, I then put in the game's beluga and narwhal and got the miserable "..Zoo Tycoon has encounter a problem and must shut down. We are sorry... etc." It happened twice in a row. I did manage to get some screenshot before the second shutdown. I have had problems with that Gobi pack before but it has animals that are adapted to desert conditions.

I took the pack out after getting these pictures.

You need to rename the bear ztd. This is what is known

Note from Jay re the Gobi bear:

I put And_1_Gobi Bär.ZTD in my dlupdate folder without anything else and it did not appear in the animal purchase menu. I had to change the "ä" to "a" in the ".ztd" name to get it to appear in the animal purchase menu. I assume that it does appear in And_1's ZT, so it might have to do with the language used by each person's MS Windows.

That sort of problem could also be from a user made scenery file. Some will crash the game when a guest tries to look at it which means it could be in the game for a while before this happens.

Some people take screenshots of the dlupdated and post it so we can see if we can spot a known problem file.

What sites are they files you are using from?

I did rename the bear & that worked fine.

I no longer have that dlupdate collection. I am working on a new zoo.

However, before I started on the new zoo I did find an audio file of "Beyond Belief:How to Spell Revenge" from the "Thrilling Adventure Hour"--a comedy show staged in the style of old-time radio, acted before an audience at the 300-seat Largo at The Coronet in Los Angeles, then released as a podcast on i-tunes and at nerdist.com-- in the dlupdate folder. :sEm_oops:

Though Frank and Sadie Doyle did ride elephants on safari and encountered some "African nature gods" in one episode, they do not often leave their penthouse. They are headliners on the society page and count werewolves, vampires, demons, as friends because they each have an unusual "gift". --Think Nick and Nora Charles, ala "The Thin Man" movie series, as psychics and you have "Beyond Belief". FYI The "Thrilling Adventure Hour" show and podcast is 97% family-friendly.

Since zoos do not serve martinis and Sadie Doyle claims she does not own sensible shoes, it is not surprising that audio file could have crashed the game.

-- And no, I do not know how that file :sneaking-smiley: got into that folder.
