exhibit assignment

latest glitch in my current game is marine specialists have somehow become unassigned from exhibits! :whoa:

 

Examples:

 

"Pedro" for a couple years conducted sea otter shows (in the rear right corner looking from the entrance) and took care of Dall's porpoises (DallsPropoiseGh_2004.ztd). Now the show tank is not on his schedule. I have tried in three separate sessions-- waiting overnight the computer was turned off-- to reassign him but the game will not do it.

 

"Conchita" took care of Baiji (TzBaijiVs01.ZTD) exhibit and the Harbor Porpoises. Now she is only Baiji and I cannot assign her back again.

 

"Whitehead" had Great White Shark and Sunfish. Now it is just Sunfish (AD Ocean Sunfish.ZTD).

 

I hired a new specialist and could not assign that specialist to those now unassigned exhibits.

 

I created a dolphin show in the left rear corner. The show and habitable tank has a specialist-- assigned after the above trouble.

 

I created Amazon river dolphin exhibit (RSNamazon river dolphin.ztd) and cannot assign a specialist. -- Yet before I had both the RSN file and JT's river dolphin file in dlupdate and it worked fine and a specialist was assigned.

 

The Narwhal has lost its specialist. The Steller Sea cow had two assigned specialist and now has only one.

You do still have animals in the unassigned exhibits - right? I know you can not assign a zoo keeper or marine specialist to an empty exhibit.

yes. the exhibit are not empty.

i will try using some same animals by different designers and see if that makes a difference.

 

At least my game did not crash today.

Are you getting any error messages when you try to assign a staff to an exhibit? If not, then that is really a puzzle. I would probably sell off all the animals in exhibits with a problem, fire any current staff, and purchase all new animals and staff. Then, rename your marine speialists to the name you desire for each one. I hope you can get your zoo back to normal operation.

My zoo is back to normal after removing:

 

A1_II_NZ_AU_Pack.ztd (Oceanic Invasion pack by And1 -- A couple birds in there have caused problems in my zoos in the past even if not in exhibits.)

 

Pretzel_Shop_v1-1.ztd (I think that is from ZKL and I don't recall using that file in a game before.)

 

I did not sell off any of the tank animals; I just took the loss and my zoo money has stayed at +$200K. I did not fire any staff. I did hire more staff including maintenance after I fixed the problem because I cautiously added more exhibits.

 

HOWEVER, this problem :hexer:/>/>/>/> kept giving donated Emperor Penq because the zoo kept acheiving the whatever award over and over again. Sometimes the award message would pop-up and I'd go sell those penquins because had no exhibit for them. Other times they'd arrived, without the award message, and it was only when I checked on the animal status menu that I'd see angry penq listed. I'd hurry to sell them off. --Probably 8 total.

 

The latest batch of angry penq I dicovered after I fixed the glitch and I dumped 4? into a now established exhibit in addition to the 5 already there so I have to sell some more.

 

I will post some screenshots soon.

 

...And no error messages ever showed up on screen. No red grid. --In fact no grid at all showed up in the tank I was trying to assign. The assignment box would never show the exhibit and the animals were not being fed. After file removal the earlier assigned exhibits showed up in the specialists' menu box.

Isn't it weird that those files could cause you not to be able to assign zookeepers. Are you using a scenario map? Was wondering if that might be what was causing the continued penguin gifts.

Freeform MM Large Sandy zoo. I am still getting award messages but no new penguins.
