  1. Here is a preview for some of the fences I am hoping to work on. I don't think I will be doing all of these pictured, some were more experimental. The 'red rocks' were inspired by the exhibit area of the same name at the Saint Louis Zoo. The black chainlink fence is inspired to look like an aviary fence. I've also always wanted some dark colored concrete fences and a rock wall with glass instead of bars, although that is the most ambitious and difficult concept. I tried very hard to make my attempt resemble the ingame rock wall while still having a glass area closer to the plexiglass fence but it doesn't quite feel right.

  5. I finally managed to recover the shadows of my animals from UFO. I found that Yi qi and Titanis have the best animations I made so far... I can't say the same about my Tupandactylus, which is honestly disappointing... I'm not sure about fixing, full remake or just discard it... 7. So anyone remember when I said I wanted to make more "base" Zoo Tycoon animals, no dinosaurs, no aquatic animals? Yeah, me neither. These two have the exact same enclosure requirements(Utahraptor needs a shelter though), but they can't live together. They'll chase each other around but won't kill each other, also Utahraptor eats eggs. UtahraptorL77.ztd GastoniaL77.ztd

  13. Less deliberate and more blissful ignorance haha. I'll give the morphology another look. I think giving a mythological animal a more grounded design so it fits with with Zoo Tycoon makes a lot of sense.

  14. From Jay to me: You might want to recommend that they add "ByWhateverTheyWantToUseAsTheirName" to the end of the ".ztd" file names to avoid conflicts. Currently the blue whale and capybara ztd names conflict with others. There might be others, but I know those names conflict. I also prefer not using spaces in ztd file names. So it could be BlueWhaleBy... or Blue_Whale_By... . And it is also best to put ".ztd" files inside ".zip" files. That allows people to have the same ".ztd" file dates, and makes it more obvious whenever a ".ztd" has been updated. Having people download ".zip" files instead of downloading ".ztd" files also avoids problems with some browsers and some web sites.

  18. That would be right. There is a limit to how many ztds can be in the game. Also how many dll files. Combining helps but keep in mind there is also a limit per menu as well. But that is huge compared to the ztd count. You might want to look through this area at my site Important information - Information regarding game crashes & conflicts It is an http site so your browser might object but I do not have ads there. Nor can anyone post or join. That site also lists the dll files you might need to get so that all the user buildings are named. Be careful using hacks and do not merge them with other files. There are also lots of downloads there too, including all my fences.

  19. Thank you for your quick answer. Yesterday I merged some ztd files and deleted some more, now I have a burger stand and drink stand. Maybe I had too much ztd files? (I had 348, now I have 30)
    2 points
  20. Are you using any hacks? Are you using a freeform game? Is it only the stands or are there other things missing? Also note that because of designer restrictions there might be several stands that show in the menu as "burger stand" or "Drink stand" or "restaurant". So you might need to scroll through the whole building menu to find them. Now it also helps to know that the building menu appears in price order with the cheapest at the start and the dearest at the end. The burger stand costs $250. I notice that while I have the contest files ingame which are Toodlepops Carnival Stands that the ingame burger stand is after a few of them. Also when you use buildings with the same name and rotate the menu, the menu resets to the top one with that name so you would need to scroll down to relocate it. Sadly this is another of the things we designers have to put up with when making new things.

  21. They´re nearly all. I still hasn´t made Galapagos sea lion, because I can´t figure out some interesting environment or compatibility with already made animal. So if you have any ideas... I thought that maybe they could be compatible with my Galapagos sea birds (Galapagos penguin, brown pelican, boobies /hehe/, flightless cormorant), but I read that they eat penguins (but I couldn´t find any particular instance of predation... And California sea lions seem to be pretty chill with the birds, to the extent of keeping females with spheniscus penguins in some zoos or having breeding pairs of Canada geese in their exhibits while sea lions played with, but didn´t kill the gooslings. They all survived to maturity.).

  22. Not everyone knows how to rename files. I know years ago I overwrote a number of files by mistake because of that. Plus by adding your initials to the name people can quickly identify your files if they are looking for one.

  25. Day 153: Here is the last exhibit that is made for the Aerial Animal Kids Zoo which is the Aviary which guests can see birds of all kinds like macaws, parrots, toucans, eagles, falcons, hawks, owls, hornbills, cockatoos, parakeets and other birds. Sorry i was a little sick yesterday, but i am better now, anyway, i have been through many days showcasing every single animal, animal house and some scenery objects of the whole entire game including with the base game and 2 expansion packs and finally! i showcased everything made for the original game like the base game, the Dinosaur Digs pack and the Marine Mania pack other then the mods and i should be so glad that i went through all this like in a lot of days since they were nothing left to showcase now and also, the thing i need to tell you is that tomorrow is my three month staying trip in Atlanta of Georgia and in Toledo of Ohio so gonna pack my things for tomorrow and leave my apartment home in Lake Worth of Florida and i am also gonna celebrate 26th birthday over there but anyway, what do you think of me showcasing everything from the game like from the things Blue Fang has created other then the mods? have i just outdid, outdone and congratulated myself for doing all this? well for me i will stop showcasing things for the game as of now but i can someday with the mods or something but now it's time for me to get some rest for me after all those days of showcasing them on any of my zoos for many of those days now and i was thinking of posting most of the screenshots for the game that i posted in this forum to Instagram including to other forums too, but not all of them, but i kind of will be back someday to showcase more of them including the mods though.

  27. I have learned how to program fences! Big thanks to Fern and Jay (as usual; the're so helpful!) for helping me work through some initial missteps. Next will be to learning how to do the graphics correctly. I am hoping to figure this process out well and be able to make a few different fences. I have been on a break from the Ape Pack for too long but my visit to the Chester Zoo at the end of my recent trip to the UK (it was right before my last post) has definitely motivated me to return to it.

  28. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1woy76xk61KkarZ_Um4RhE4DYKUksbNBvfr2_ubF3ig8/edit?usp=sharing This is a link to the spreadsheet I'm working on for Zoo Tycoon. I was inspired by the one Digsu made a few years back. It's got all of the needed information, but it's not organized and doesn't use color, making it hard to tell info apart. When making mine, I wanted to include some color and make sure similar stats were grouped together. I've also included some modded animals, I'm very picky about which modded animals I use (I like the ones that feel vanilla). The animals are organized how they are within the game, followed by the online bonus animals, DLC animals, and then the modded animals. If you want to mess around with the filters, just make a copy! It's not finished, but I figured that it really didn't matter if I showed it off now or later. Plus, as an added bonus, people can help out too, like catching mistakes I've made or figuring out how stats work. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy it!

  42. Here I will share what I do in the game. For now, I have only completed the beginner scenarios, but I have started my own project. Please bear with me, I still have a lot to learn. But I would be very happy to receive any feedback on how I can improve. The concept of my first zoo is based on creating three distinct levels. The animals are located on the first level, services for guests and other main areas on the second, and pedestrian routes on the third. In terms of animals, I tried to keep the herbivores in a relatively common area with invisible fences. I'm not sure I like what I've created, so I don't know if I'll continue. Mod List: x MM Freeform Unlock 1.0.0 x Invisible Fence by Willie T. 1.0.0 x ZZ Rocks - Terrain Stones Expanded Pack 2023 by Z.Z. 1.0.0 Edit: The pictures are very small, maybe I use printscreen next time...

  43. Okay..... I quite like the concept and it looks great, but it is really going to depend on whether or not you care what the zoo rating and the guest happiness are. If this was a contest it would probably not work. If just for looks it is fine. And also for screens it is fine. There are waterfall fences you can get for that tiered water area. And cobblestone walls that look good against cliffs. Here are a few things to keep in mind. Guests like to be close to animals. If you look at contest screens you will see that buildings are interspersed with the exhibits. Guests are notorious whingers and whine about anything and everything. Some bad enough to get fed to a predator if they annoy enough. And yes, most of have done that at one point or another. Guests can only see 10 deep into an exhibit. This is useful to know for animals that moan about too many people. You do not need a slope up to the gate. Most animals will moan about elevated terrain they do not want. And you will find the keepers just drop in and get out anyway. Now since I quite like this idea I would tweak the idea this way. I would use the various levels for habitats perhaps. One level would be savannah. Another level might be rainforest. Another could be Tundra, marine, or whatever. On each level I might choose buildings that fit the habitat. ie for savannah there is a Roaring Lion Retreat. For rainforest there is a Madagascar Amphibian House. Like I said, it depends on what you want from your zoo. Just fun or as a challenge to skills getting all the various ratings. Not to mention the various awards. edit: Just looking again, I see at least most buildings are close enough for guests to view some animals which is a plus.

  44. Translation: I understand a question, do you know how to change the background color with which the files are extracted? Okay. It looks like you are using APE. What version. You should use APExp2. I use Zoot to load and extract. To change the background you need a graphics program. There are free ones around. I use Gimp. You need to set it up right. And that depends on the program you choose. You would use that to click on that gray area and change it to something that is not in the animal. Lime green or bright pink are good choices. I suggest looking through this area. https://zootekphoenix.com/forums/forum/55-ape/ and also this area https://zootekphoenix.com/forums/forum/115-designing-tools/

  47. It would need much more than a hack. The game rendering engine would need to be rewritten in such a way that supports more colors, which luckily falls under the scope of what we're planning for OpenZT. I don't know how far we'll take color support though. At least I'd like the alpha channel to be supported. That alone should solve many of the 'too many colors' errors.

  49. Invisible fences easter egg has been submitted :D Will need EMU v1.1.0 to work. Here's Serpy's awesome walkthrough exhibit she built using it: On another note: - the Never Poor Hack has been updated to work on the latest version of EMU - the Perfect Zoo Hack will not work on EMU v1.1.0. I'm hoping to get it working again in a future version. If you enjoy it though, it works fine if you stick with EMU v1.0.1.
