Guest Jaimi Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 For some reason recently, it seams like my zookeepers, scientists, and marine specialists have started slacking off. They only do their jobs if I pick them up and set them down right beside the sick animal or poo. I have 4 assigned to each exibit, but the animals are still always getting hungry or sick. They exibits are all highly suitable, so it can't be that they're getting sick b/c of that. Plus, they dont put food out unless I pick them up and put them in an exibit. Any ideas? TAT!
(Trustee)genkicoll Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 Zookeepers need to be able to leave an exhibit to "reset" their duties. The best thing you can do is trap them so that they can exit the exhibit, but not go anywhere except back in the exhibit.
Guest Jaimi Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 They can leave. There are just normal exibits, most with no elevation at all or foliage blocking the entrance. How can I trap them in?
(Trustee)genkicoll Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 This is the best example I could find in screenshots I already had done. I always put two exhibit gates together, as it is more efficent for the zookeepers/marine specialists. I block off the area where they could "escape" with statues, flowerbeds... anything that they can't walk on/through. There is a path there for guests to walk on (THEIR path is not blocked, just the marine specialist's), but you can't see it because of the tank closest to you
luvmy83wing Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 For zoo keepers and probably scientists you can build the exhibit on an "island" I donot know how to upload to here but i will see if I can once again find the island building tut that I had found a short time back and have used with pretty fair success. I'll come back and edit this with the site and location if I can find it. However I don't think this strategy would work for marine specialist unless maybe you were to build an exhibit around a tank .... it might work. I just haven't done much with the marine part of ZTCC.
(Trustee)genkicoll Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 We have an "Island in a tank" tutorial. You can find it HERE.
luvmy83wing Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 We have an "Island in a tank" tutorial. You can find it HERE. I didn't know we had one here ...I just got back from the other site and noticed you had said we had one here.... I'm glad we do and I've looked at the tut looks similar to the other ... I use this method ALOT I like the open effect that it gives my exhibits without allowing my critters to escape..... as well as that my keepers can't wander off and forget who they are supposed to be taking care of. This works like a charm.
Guest Caddienoah Posted April 21, 2008 Posted April 21, 2008 I don't quite understand what you mean by trapping them around their exhibits...to reset their duties. Why is this different, then picking them up from another location, and re-postition them back in the exhibit...In my experience about half the time they still don't do what you want them to do.
pukkie Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I am not sure if this is just imagination but I do feel some downloads have an effect on Zookeepers doing or not doing their task for once I had an animal in there and I kept picking zookeepers up and down But then I decided after building 4/5 more exhibits another animal would be more nice for that exhibit I sold the animal and even so I took it out the game to have more space for downloads I might still want to use When I after doing that started the game again it was striking for I didn't have to pick up one and place it back and forth ever since
Fern Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Are you sure the animal needed a zookeeper and not one of the others. Training (researched) also affects it.
