(Admin)Savannahjan Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Just found these latest pictures. Love the close-up of the gazelle, it almost looks real. The story goes perfectly with the pictures. You've done a nice job on this.
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thank you very much, Savannahjan. I apologize that it took so long to get these new screens up, but here they are! From the Upper Nile in southern sudan, where the Sahara meets the Sahel! My first sight here was the massive warthog family around the riverbed. Soon the sun began to set, and the view was beautiful!
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 However I heard the infamous cackling of a hyena pack! This predators hunt rarely, but prefer to do so at night. They look hungry and pack quite the punch in their mouth! Let's get outta here and come back another day!
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 The following day a large herd of Thomson's Gazelles had wandered nearby.
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 And where there are Gazelles, there are... Yep! You guessed it! The cheetah mother! She must have hungry kittens nearby! She blends in very well to the shrub lands, and her speed is unmatched by any creature! I luckily found safety before I became prey! I did manage to snap these shots! :193:/> :193:/> :193:/> Time to head downstream to Egypt and have an end to my trip in northern Africa! See you then as I hope to find some riverside creatures on my final stop! Hope you enjoyed my photos from the Sahel!
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thank you RDingFT! My trip in northern africa sadly has come to an end. My final trip is completed and now it is time to return home. Here are my photos from Egypt's lower nile. The land was fertile surrounding the river itself, but too far away from the river, and the desert would continue on as far as the eye could see. My first sight were the massive nile crocodiles. Looked like they had just caught something to eat and had picked it apart.
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Further downstream was a large flock of Greater Flamingos. Upon my approach, they became spooked and fled.
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Later in the day, even further upstream were a few Hippos! I had to stay back, as what appears to be a large lazy animal can actually vastly outrun a human on land and their large mouths can crush bone!
Rasun37 Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Up on the ridge by some trees I spotted the elusive Shoebill, and finallay by some rocks a Nile Monitor. Well, there's the end to that trip, thanks for the idea, it was such a wonderful experience. Join me in my next adventure and view my photographs from them, but until then, I'll see you next time! :glitter_happy:
