He is a member of this site and Zoo Admin. Zoo Admin has permissions for all his files as he was a staff member and designer there.

I would love to know the outcome please.

 

Okay, I will try and get in touch with him. I have no problem letting them use my website for storage/bandwidth or even a home page.

With my provider I can add a new domain for just 15 bucks a year. Since they are having such huge website issues, they should switch to my site, or better yet, set their own up with my provider. I have been with them for some time now and have never had the server go down. Service is less than $50 a year (US) and that includes your first domain name. If they have already paid for a domain elsewhere, they can just use that as well. You get 10000 MB of storage, and 1000,000 MB of bandwidth. If you need more space/bandwidth you can get it, what I listed is their smallest package. If it is money that is the issue, they can set up a Paypal account to take donations. That's what I did and my websites, gaming server, and TeamSpeak 3 server, are all paid for by my members. I know people are probably eager to get these downloads again, not to mention just have Zoo Admin fully back online again.

 

Since zooadmin.net and zooadmin.org still aren't up, I guess I need to contact him here, but seeing as there is only a "PenquinManFan" listed in the members, I am not sure how to go about that lol. What is his name here? Are there any other members here I can contact as well?

I know how the spamming thing goes. I have a forum and have had to do the same thing on mine. I am kinda mean on my site though. If a spammer does get through and manage to post, I edit their post to something like "Hi I am a spammer. I like to ruin people's days by spamming their forum and ruining it for others. Here is my email (I post what ever email they used to sign up), please return the favor." Then I change their password so they can't log on anymore, and leave it up. My members spam them via the email given. Since I started doing that, spam attempts have dropped in my forum massively. They see that and don't want their email made public. I know it's evil, but I just got sick of the spam.

 

Anyway, back on subject. I think I have posted on ZTCDD before, though it has been a while. I will go check it out, and already dropped a note to Yellowrose.

The ZT1 stuff would be fine at ZA on its owm and many ZT1 files are being updated. So I would not want them being hosted elsewhere since I am the one doing the updating. lol

 

Many of the ZT2 files are large. And there are still heaps I have not rereleased because of the bandwidth.

I am not too worried about ZT1 stuff, seems like most of it has been reposted in so many places, it seems pretty well covered. With say Arabian Knights, I have enough bandwidth on my site for almost 1000 people per month to download it lol. I might not be able to do a whole lot of stuff, but if I can at least help out with some of it, I will. My site can just be a mirror site for the downloads. People would still go to your site, or ZA or where ever, but when people click the link to download, it would be pulled from my site. The downloads themselves would not be available directly from my site unless the maker wants it to be. In that case, I would make a page about the maker (or use one they provide) with their info, copyright info, and pics of the download. I don't want to have my own download page, I want to host the downloads for others, if that makes sense. I would just host ones that need a "home" right now, either temporarily, or permanently.

Good news everyone! Penguinman has contacted me and gave the go ahead to host the files. He signed up here but said it would not let him reply for some reason. Here is a quote from his email:

 

Just so you know, I've opened all of my downloads up to, essentially the "public domain". What I mean is that anyone/everyone has my permission to upload/download/use/modify/reupload etc anything. I don't even mind if people don't give me credit, but obviously it's much preferred when people do. I was going to try and post this in the tek forum so that everyone would know (and know that you have my complete permission to upload any/all of my files), but it turned out I somehow had never registered there (strange indeed). So, i registered but then it said I couldn't reply, so if you have any idea as to why I'd love to hear haha.

 

So, I am going to work with him to make sure I have all of the downloads and that they are the latest versions, and then I will post here once the download page is up and running! :glitter_happy:

hello! I realize now that I couldn't post cause I had to be validated first (darn spam-bots).

 

Anyways, what watchdog posted earlier is true in that any and all of my downloads are free to be uploaded/downloaded/used/modified in any way that anyone wants (including used as a base to create another animal on).

 

Sorry that I've been so slow and not active - I haven't really had much time for ZT in a while it will probably stay that way. But, I do really want to get AN + IE up for download again and me and watchdog have already been emailing and planning a lot.

 

I am really pleased to see that people still care about all the work I did so long ago! Definitely inspires me to try and finish up those last few animals....

I have ended up creating what I am calling a "Zoo Tycoon Way Station" Basically, I will host any Zoo Tycoon related content either as a mirror site, and/or directly on my web page itself. I just started throwing it together this afternoon, but will soon have all of the Artifex stuff posted on a generic downloads page while I finish building the site.

 

Helping Artifex get back up is my main focus, once that is done, I will host as much as I can. Currently I still have about 4500 MB worth of space after putting Artifex's stuff up. If you have something you want hosted Fern, just send me an email at watchdog@watchdogwebart.com, and I will reply with my private email so you can send the files to me. If you would like me to just reserve all of the space for your needs, I can do that too.
