The "anchoring " point for the roof tiles is in the center, 1 tile in size, and roofs are the equivalent of 6 fence heights. The offset views is an optical illusion caused by the anchoring point being in the wrong place. So from one side it looks correct but from the other, not so much. Try using a piece of ice path to mark the spot before placement. That way you can easily see the single placement pixel. I actually toyed with a sunken aviary a few years ago and this is what worked the best: (The plants on top of the columns are actually path tiles from ZZ's groundcover plant path pack.) 1

(Although I am regretting building them so close to the zoo walls, it kind of ruins the work I put into the exhibit and modded walls don't go up that high to cover them.) 2 2
