Created my first freeform zoo a few days ago and now finished building it. I chose the small city map - I don't know why but I always liked the maps with buildings, streets and so on (one of my favourite games is SimCity 4 so maybe that's why lol). For a "challange" I chose the lowest amount of money but that wasn't much of a problem to handle honestly. Space management was a bit more of a challange but it worked out quiet well without looking too cramped I think, managed to house 10 different species (and a bird-house which could technically count as 11). So anyway, I am quiet happy with what I created, used a few mods like those colorful flowers in planter boxes, a few other flower mods and the bridge but besides that I mainly used the vanilla items. That's the whole zoo. And here a little closeup.3 points

Ive never killed my guests in Zoo Tycoon, but one of the very first god games I ever played was Sim Earth, and it drove me nuts to wait until the soil became rich enough for trees, so before putting in any water, I dropped whales on the land over and over again until the soil was ultra rich. Then I played the original Sims, and I had one house on the block where the Harbingers lived, it looked like the Addams Family house, and there was the neighborhood graveyard in the back where I would trap some sims inside a cubicle and just leave them there until they died and made gravestones. Because I too am a sick and twisted puppy. ;D3 points

Goosifer it must be a dutch thing perhaps but I never did such thing an d never will I found the joy straight in playing it correctly well it was the first game I ever played on a computer Before ZooTycoon I only knew how to switch a computer on and off Mostly off by angrily ripping the cable out of the powersupply so diner would no longer be ignored Hmmm who knows I might try it once if I get myself to sin this way3 points

There were both, but I'd say the best ones are Ghirin's here on ZooTek.3 points

I never let them out, but I do search for angry guests to feed to them.3 points

And you're certain the guests were quiet because of the sound file and not because the all the zookeepers had their pants on backwards. I'll accept that. Welcome to Tek!2 points

No idea how you added the guest anim, but mirrored anims in APE are not correctly 'anchored' per frame, so they wiggle around as the size of each anim frame changes.2 points

Anyone who says they haven’t made a guest death pit in either Tycoon game is lying to themselves and we all know it. Were dragon mods ever common in ZT1? I can’t say I remember too many but then I can’t tell the difference between a wyvern and a dragon. Maybe those count.2 points

Wow! So much water in a small zoo without it looking crowded. Views of the zoo have probably increased the rents or prices of condos. A relaxing layout.1 point

Thanks! Yeah it was quiet the nice feeling when I plopped down the last bit of scenery and had used up every tile!1 point

That's a neat looking zoo! I like the city map soo much and having a park with almost no empty tiles is pretty satisfactory 😸😸1 point

Guest: Angry because I toke him to the nearest bathroom because he needs to use it, but decides to walk away and say he's gonna leave instead Me: So you've chosen death... Then picking guest to the sharks tank so he either drowns or gets eaten alive 🦈🦈1 point

I think ZT Studio might have the ability to export frames on a fixed canvas. At least I implemented the inverse operation - converting constant canvas size to minimal canvas size per frame for better performance and smaller size.1 point

This is kinda just a general problem, but inexplicably for some reason a ton of animals will start displaying unhappy faces when more of their own kind is placed in an exhibit, always starting from the fourth individual. This always happens even when the maximum population the animal will tolerate is far beyond 3. Scrubbing through every single animal's .uca or .ai file I'm seeing nothing that could be connected to such a thing, so I'm guessing it's hardwired into the game's code. It's ultimately a pretty meaningless thing, I think, but it's really annoying to see.1 point

Oh yeah I did NOT play this game responsibly as a kid. It wasn't til I got a tiny bit older and found mods that I started caring about ~aesthetics~ and animal/guest care I was the dragon-obsessed kid who became very distressed when I found out that there were only a couple of dragon animal adopt mods and they were all hosted on REALLY unsafe sites that could give you a virus in seconds.1 point

that got a good giggle out of me, like when I was a kid playing this game and let my t-rexes out to eat everyone 😂1 point

I had to cut the UFOv2 Project because, when I saw this in Fountain's wishlist, I immediatly sought for it an started working... This "Blitzprojekt" also made me notice what are the parts of crafting that I already know how to deal to, which ones I do not so good at all and some new things I learnt! New Animal: Peryton (Only for ZTCC) Now available in the link at my signature! I'll eventually upload it here and at ZooBerry. There are just two things I just can't bring yet: First, its wings aren't rigged... To me, that gives an extra mysterious aura, but I also would like make some wingbeat animations. Secondly, I didn't figure out how to make an extra shadow in Blender in order to make it accurate with the myth of their human shadow... If anyone kindly would guide me in how to do that, I'll be pretty grateful Pls report any bugs found! Happy Download! 🧜♂️🧜♀️1 point

Alright I tested it out with all mods removed but that didn't seem to be the problem because the "silence" persists in my zoos. Really weird. EDIT: Eh... even weirder, I have somehow just fixed it I guess. I literally just removed the "sounds.ztd" file from the main directory and replaced it with a "fresh" version copied directly from the main directory on the CD. Now the sounds start to play after a few seconds. Both files are identical in size, but somehow the "old" file doesn't work (tested it again by switching them out). I'm so glad I decided to switch interests and didn't become a software developer, weird problems in programs with unusual fixes like that are just absolutely confusing haha.1 point
