The Red Panda is an original new endangered animal, compatible with Zoo Tycoon 1 (no expansion packs needed). You might also hear this little critter's unique cry once in a while. From Wikipedia: The red panda (Ailurus fulgens), also called the lesser panda, the red bear-cat, and the red cat-bear, is a mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It has reddish-brown fur, a long, shaggy tail, and a waddling gait due to its shorter front legs; it is slightly larger than a domestic cat. It is arboreal, feeds mainly on bamboo, but also eats eggs, birds, and insects. It is a solitary animal, mainly active from dusk to dawn, and is largely sedentary during the day. - Design by Vondell - Configuration by Jeff (to admins: please test this animal once more, I'm using a slightly different version which was stable in my game. Vondell's been active for a bit, but I'm sure he's okay with publishing this first version of the Red Panda)

This mod changes the User Interface, making the Build Menu, the Animal Menu, and the Scenery Menu bigger. If you would like to see more icons in your menus then this is for you. This is meant for 1600x900 or higher widescreen resolutions, but will work on any resolution. There are 2 versions in the zip file, one that is for 800x600 screens, and the bigger one for all the rest. Only install one version. This mod integrates with Jay's allow purchase babies mod, thanks to Jay for suggesting this. This mod is technically a hack, because it modifies the following game files: buldhab.lyt, buya.lyt, buyobj.lyt, and teraform.lyt. It will not work with other mods that modify the same files. If you have an older version of this mod or you are using jay's allow purchase babies mod then you should uninstall those mods first before using this one! If you have any problems, or find any bugs or issues, leave a message here or msg me directly, thanks!

  5. Like I mentioned in the topic where I introduced myself, I became interested in the .zoo file format that Zoo Tycoon 1 uses. This was right after implementing support for reading several binary formats that RCT uses. And so I set about investigating the format, with the goals of 1) hacking the saves and doing interesting stuff that the game does not normally allow, and 2) import the landscape into OpenRCT2. Today, the focus is on the former. ZT1 does not include a map editor, and while you can enter developer mode to move the zoo walls a bit further towards the edge, you cannot increase the visible space and actually make your map bigger. So you’re basically stuck with a few standard sizes like 75×75 or 150×150. Or are you? The map size is actually saved in the .zoo file, as you can see when looking at via a hex editor: Now, just modifying this value will result in a crash. This is expected - the terrain data is saved in a continuous stream of mapSizeX × mapSizeY elements. So a 75×75 map contains 5625 elements, while a 150×150 map contains 22500 elements. For 233×233, we need 54289. Since I started with the Large Grassy Zoo map, which is 150×150, that thus means 54289 - 22500 = 31789 additional elements, inserted at the correct place. Note how quickly this number increases compared to map size - that’s exponential growth for you. This is not just me showing off maths though - it means quickly increasing memory usage. The map size is saved using a 32-bit integer, which has a theoretical maximum of about 2.1 billion (or 4.2 billion in certain circumstances). In practice though, testing with different map sizes has shown that 233×233 is the maximum that ZT1 will load. Anything bigger and it will freeze while attempting to load. But then, having a 233×233 map is still quite an improvement from 150×150, is it not? Here is a screenshot. You can see the original borders of the Large Grassy Zoo map and the zoo wall continuing: Zoo Tycoon 1’s extreme zoom makes it difficult to get an oversight of the size. But here is a neat trick to measure map size: use a dirt path, which costs $10 per tile and just divide by 10: (In this example, I built the path outside the zoo walls using dev mode, but even if you build it within your zoo it should be easy to see that this map is indeed 233×233.) Now, I’m sure you’re keen to try it out yourself. Well, for the low, low price of €49,95... nah, just kidding. Here it is. enlarged5c.zoo

  6. I am constantly changing ideas and parks but now I finally got one! Welcome at 'MAMMALIA'. Mammalia is a small mammal sanctuary that houses eleven different animals. Most of them from the 'fur farm' pack which I love. Let me show you around. /// Here is the zoo map: It all started with this central terrain setup. The main building is designed like a rodent nest. Visitors walk around through tunnels that end up in an indoor viewing area. The roofs are covered with grasses and in the middle there is a big terrace to picknick. Entrance to the main building: Near the entrance is the emergency department. Where animals can rest after surgery. When going to your left (outside). You will find our first inhabitants. Lesser Grison (L) and European Polecat (R) On the other side of the path you will find Skunk (L) and Racoons (R). The racoon enclosure is viewable from indoors. After these four exhibits. Visitors will need to go inside. When walking through the first tunnel you will end up in a viewing area. This will bring you to the martens. Beech Marten (L) and Pine Marten (R). The tunnel 90° onto Marten tunnel brings you to the Malayan weasels. Also a small toilet building can be found here. Small picknick tables and restaurant. Outside we have two desert enclosures. Fennec foxes (L) and Marbled Polecat (R) Here you can dive underground again to find another indoor viewing area (onto Coati) and the way to go up on the roof terrace. Here you can buy a snack and a drink to take onto the roof. Last tunnel brings you to the Wolverines. The pixelled screenshot shows it all :- ) That was it! I hope you enjoyed it. I certainly did whilst creating this small sanctuary.

    1) What is zookini? Zookini is a launcher program for zoo tycoon 1. What zookini does is it edits the zoo.ini file, which is a file that zoo tycoon 1 reads at load time, and where it stores many of your game settings, including the video and sound options. 2) How do I install it? Put zookini in it's own folder anywhere on your hard drive. Run it. 3) Why edit zoo.ini? The reason I made this program is because there are some very cool things you can do with the zoo.ini that you cannot do in the game option screen inside the game. The first thing is that you can set the screensize to other sizes than the 3 that are available in game, including widescreen options for modern monitors. The zookini program looks at your windows video options, decides which screensizes that are available are ok to use with zoo tycoon, and then puts them in a dropdown list for you to select. Also, if you choose windowed mode, it only shows you the screensizes that will work with windowed mode. Other things zookini does: - Video options like updaterate for smoother graphics. - Sound Options like volume, and menu volume, as well as actually allowing you to change the theme song. - Edit the boot path so you can add your own mod folders. - Skip the startup movies. - Change the maximum guests allowed in a zoo. - Change the startup cash and maximum cash for freeform mode to up to 2 billion+ dollars. 4) Sounds complicated? I made this program as easy to use as possible. The first thing it will do is try to automatically find your zoo.ini file. If it is in your zoo tycoon install folder in program files (which it usually is) it should find it just fine. If however you have installed the game in another place, or if when you installed it, it did not have admin permissions, then it may be that you will have to search for the zoo.ini file on your own. If that is the case, just click on Load zoo.ini and navigate to the folder where your zoo.ini is located. (The usual places for this is in your user folder: localappdata). Once it finds the zoo.ini file, Zookini first makes a backup of your zoo.ini file and names it zoo.ini.original. This file is never overwritten by zookini. If you ever feel like you just want to start over with this original zoo.ini file, then you can click the Full zoo.ini Reset Button, and it will copy that zoo.ini.original to zoo.ini for you. Also, if you do ever save changes, then it will make a backup of the last zoo.ini file you had called zoo.ini.undo, which you can restore by hitting the Undo Last Save button. These 2 backups make it incredibly safe to edit your zoo.ini file without any risk. Also, there is error checking on all the input fields, to keep you from entering bad values that aren't allowed by the game, but if it somehow did happen, the game would still launch just fine (it would just replace the bad values with default values). I promise that this is a very safe and easy program to use, so don't be afraid to give it a try. :) 5) What is Drawrate, and Updaterate? You don't really need to change the DrawRate( which is basically max fps) unless you have a monitor that allows for a very high refresh rate, but it won't hurt anything to do it. UpdateRate is how many times per second the game updates the graphics. Try changing the UpdateRate to 30 or even 60 if your computer is fairly fast, and you'll notice that the animations/graphics in the game are super smooth! 6) Why does my starting cash look funny? When you change the starting cash or any cash options, it will look a little funny when you get to the freeform mode select screen but don't worry, when you go into the map, you'll see the actual cash amounts. Try setting the starting cash and maximum cash to 2,000,000,000 if you want to start out with a ton of money.

  11. So to test out Serpyderpy's new freshwater mod and tank terrain change trick, as well as various freshwater fish mods, I made some ambitious flooded forest tanks yesterday. It was well received on Discord and inspired some other builds, so I thought why not share it here too? My dlupdate folder is a mess right now since aside from these attempts, I'm playing without user-made items for the PANDA contest. The map is barebone and just full of tanks for testing various MM animals. 1. Amazon basin This was V1 before the game crashed prematurely (still unsure of the cause). I salvaged a bit of it from an earlier save and then built a V2 below with some extra land for the tapirs, capybaras, otters, crocodilians, and anaconda. V2 is still my most ambitious tank so far with a very dense number of Hawkkeye's cichlids and piranhas - in fact, I cannot load the save file again without cutting down on the number of animals in this tank. I lost count but I would not be surprised if the total animal count surpasses 100. At this number of animal exhibit compatibility is nigh impossible, but if you cut down to ~10 species it should be achievable. Vegetation also started out very dense - and I love that, but I reduced it eventually to view the animals more easily. And honestly, they look even better in videos when you can see all the critters buzzing around. 2025-02-10 15-09-41.mp4 2. Mekong delta I am more mindful of vegetation this time around - no Amazonian giant water lillies, no swamp cypress, etc. There are also fewer fishes from this region available ingame compared to the Amazon, so I managed to keep most of them happy. There is no land portion like V2 Amazonia tank, but I recognize that this region has a loaded stack of tankable Zoo Tycoon animals (tapirs, Asian elephant, tigers, saltwater crocodile, etc) that can work should I ever do a land segment. 2025-02-10 15-05-31.mp4 The next flooded forest I want to make will be the North American Everglades. I also have an idea of making Jane's neutral rainforest foliage to be tank-placeable in future iterations (unless someone here knows of an underwater rainforest mod). If you think there are specific foliage, rocks, or tank-placeable scenery items that I should throw in, feel free to share them here.

  12. Hiiii this wasn't the Dinosaur Dig related download I was expecting to post, but big things have happened!! A user by horse14t has bought many different beta and marketing discs for Zoo Tycoon 1 and 2 over the years, and last month she stumbled upon a disc for sale for a marketing beta of Dinosaur Digs. Me and a bunch of other users in a server it was posted to went through the files and found some incredible stuff!! While much of the game is close to the final product, a few things stand out. The big one is an earlier design for the iguanodon, more closely resembling the WWD design, as well as a much larger deinosuchus (sadly unfinished). Some objects and scenery are a little different in design too, as well as the insectivore food more closely resembling a worm pile, and a lot of stats seem to be altered from the retail version as well. I took the opportunity to seperate some of the more obvious and interesting things into their own standalone pack that you can use alongside the vanilla DD stuff without overwriting one another. Huge, huge thank you to horse14t for buying these discs!! We have found so much cool stuff for these games alone just from their efforts. <3 Included is: Beta iguanodon seperated entirely from the vanilla iguanodon, complete with young and adult sprites, and adoption icon, list icon and plaque. I used the beta iguanodon ai file so there are potentially some stat and price changes, but the two are compatible terrain, rock and foliage percent wise. The vanilla iguanodon will complain about incompatible animals, but both can reach 100% suitability with one another regardless. When the beta version of the iguanodon escapes and is picked up or crated, it will use the beta version of the large dinosaur box! Earlier versions of the rex and raptor skeleton are included. Vanilla DD seems to actually use icons that match these sprites more in the final game. Bigger versions of the tar pit and lava pit are included. The beta ai files for these had them not be deletable, so maybe they were dev objects? Regardless, they have been turned into scenery and can also be deleted lol. There's also an alternate version of the smaller volcano that's constantly smoking which has been isolated. Since I didn't want to overwrite the vanilla insectivore food sprites and making new foods isn't feasible at the moment, I decided to turn the beta insectivore food into three different scenery pieces. Lots and lots of wormies! I made younger guests enjoy them more too. I have made two versions by request, the first version makes it so that the beta and retail iguanodon are basically one and the same, just different internally and in graphics, and maybe one or two stats. They are meant to be the same type of animal, really. The second version renames the beta iguanodon to Dakotadon, oweing to the fact the beta iggy design is taking after Walking with Dinosaurs's north american iguanodon design, which has since been reclassified to Dakotadon. The Dakotadon has had their terrain and a few preferences changed just to differentiate it from Iguanodon, but it's not a very in-depth change. There's quite a few other things included in the marketing beta but I will probably be including them in the patch I was working on. When the patch comes out I will also probably make another version of these with more accurate terrain. I might try and see if the deinosuchus is also salveagable at some point. Anyway, enjoy! Link to normal version! Link to Dakotadon version!

  13. Hello! Long time no see - I have been playing some Zoo Tycoon 1 again the last few days and wanted to share what I have come up with! Last year when I played ZT1 I had this idea for elevated vantage points for guests that go into the exhibit (My other post Little City Zoo) and the idea worked quite well in my opinion. For some reason I never really thought much about using "natural barriers" for my zoos to use less obstrusive fencing around the habitats for the animals, a few days ago I suddenly had the idea to do this in ZT1, use water, rocks and whatnot in conjunction with low fences that many animals normally are able to jump over, this is what I cam up with: EDIT: The screenshots seem to be super small in this thread, I uploaded them to imgur where they are a bit bigger so you might look at details a bit better: https://imgur.com/a/Z4dHZU4 This is an overview of the whole zoo, it's a medium grasslands map, no money or guest name cheats were used, just a few decorative mods. While building I kinda also got the idea to thematically divide the areas a bit. The grizzly exhibit was the first exhibit I built, I was experimenting with the barriers a bit and since they can jump and swim it was kinda hard to create an exhibit where they couldn't escape all the time. I put elevated vantage points in the back and tried making them look like they are part of a rock-like mountain, some slightly raised points hidden by plants and on each side I used low fences with rocks so that it kinda looks like a river that has a natural rock-barrier running through it: This is the serow exhibit, the fencing in combination with the roofing reminded me a bit of hunter's perches in forests, so I used this look for the elevated lookouts and used low fences for the water barriers. Since they can't swim it was much easier to contain them here. The bison exhibit - I used the ranger / hunter perch look for the elevated views again and the low fence for the water, I also lowered one "watchpoint", made it advance into the exhibit and hid the barriers in bushes and (modded) grass. I liked the look of it - kinda like you would sneak through the bushes like a hunter to get as close to the prey as you can. This is a wolf exhibit, I was able to cut off escape ways with water here again and "pierced" the exhibit barrier with slightly elevated viewpoints into their forest. Since the serow exhibit had some hills in it that I used for the elevated lookouts I extended these hills outside of the exhibit and made the japanese garden building into a little "mountain monastery": Siberian tigers exhibit, used rock fences for a little mountain where the guests can look down as well as slightly lowered and elevated vantage points and water barriers: With the pandas I had another idea - why not try to use the rock walls and roofings to create a little cave that goes through one of their exhibit mountains and leads to a vantage point inside their exhibit: I used the same technique for the snow leopard exhibit, just a few more times because they need more mountains in their enclosure: This is the savanna area - I must admit I am kinda proud of this one haha. The bridge "walls" are modded obviously but it could have been done without them as well, the large rock-walls are normally not accessible to the player but I used a mod that adds developer mode items for the player to use. The exhibits here have multiple species in them, I wanted this area to feel like being on a safari through the large open savanna. Water barriers with low fences and the "bridges" made for really great ways to hide obstrusive fences. There are elephants, giraffes, rhinos, buffalos, zebras, ostriches, gazelles and wildebeests. Other side of it with leopards and cheetas. All animals have green habitability ratings: Right next to the savanna I was experimenting a bit... tried building some kind of harbour with a ship where stalls are in lol. There are sea lions and manatees but I am not that happy with the area, might going to reconstruct everything there: The last corner of the zoo has some tropical animals in it, bengal tigers, okapis, tapirs etc. The center of this area I tried to make look a bit like a village "marketplace": I must say I had a lot of fun with this zoo, it was quite challanging at times - let's just say there were a few... "incidents" with tigers and bears that were in places where they were not supposed to be (can I blame them though? Hotdogs right next to the exhibit probably smell great...). As you might see from the exhibits my "techniques" have gotten a bit better over time (grizzly exhibit was the first I build, savanna one of the last). two exhibits I forgot to take screenshots of but they aren't that special (moose and horses) and use the same techniques as the other exhibits anyway.

  14. Here is a preview for some of the fences I am hoping to work on. I don't think I will be doing all of these pictured, some were more experimental. The 'red rocks' were inspired by the exhibit area of the same name at the Saint Louis Zoo. The black chainlink fence is inspired to look like an aviary fence. I've also always wanted some dark colored concrete fences and a rock wall with glass instead of bars, although that is the most ambitious and difficult concept. I tried very hard to make my attempt resemble the ingame rock wall while still having a glass area closer to the plexiglass fence but it doesn't quite feel right.

This is the dragon that was promised! :) This dragon came from the original AOFE mod (I guess). I found the stand, walk, attack, and death animations, and made this dragon with them. Unfortunately, there are no flying animations, because for some reason it was a ground unit. This is my first animal so he will probably get updated. But for now it seems to work ok so try it out and let me know what you think. Updated: I was lucky to have Jay's advice on my first animal. Thank you to Jay for your help. Jay is the master!

  28. I am still working on ungulates, so I decided to divide them into 2 parts. Next part will be available in a few weeks, with about 20 animals. Because of size, even this release is split. 30. Great ideas. I wasn't too convinced with the bubbles either. Here's a new version with the trickle down effect. I added little funnels (?) in the corners so that it looks like water is overflowing from the second water bed. They're probably hard to see. You'll notice some weird flares happening between loops. Trying to fix those and then I think I can work on polishing up the lighting. Configuration after.

  35. A screenshot tour of one of my newest zoos — VERY much a work in progress and much will change as time goes on! Some of what you see in this post will have changed by the time I get back to the game. Let's get a few overhead shots in: And some obligatory close-ups, guest attractions and animals. ^ Entrance with a bridge overlooking the water, flanked by shops, a farmer's market, winter-themed emergency medical service (guest-only, but there is an animal hospital nearby), and snow forest resting area for recovering patients. The road (which I will not pretend looks 100% accurate to real life lmao) can take more seriously injured guests to the hospital complex for advanced treatment. Behind the farmer's market we can see Zarawatto's Gigantoraptors enjoying themselves. ^ Close-up of said Gigantoraptors, still in 'baby' stage, not fully developed. ^ alternate view of the EMS, road, and 'sauna.' Located behind the EMS we can see the 'Wild Arctic' where guests can learn about various arctic wildlife. ^ Beside the road we have Borsato's Red-Crowned Cranes and Hawkkeye's Snow Geese! They get along famously together. ^ Here's a closeup of a mixed smorgasbord of ungulates: Hawkkeye's Highland Cattle, North County Mule Sheep, Balkan Donkeys, and Exmoor Ponies. They were quite the challenge to make happy but worth it! (because I started them off with an entirely snowy exhibit and wrongfully assumed they would be okay with scenery objects that weren't programmed for animals. lol.) ^ another angle ^ Close-up of the guest 'picnic' area, with nearby Nanuqsaurus exhibit and back view of the crane/snow goose viewing area (I borrowed the design from user Reuben but tweaked it to my own liking). ^ Zarawatto's Nanuqsaurusup close, still in 'baby' stage, not fully developed. ^ Close-up of one of my personal favorites - the 'Pleistocene Ungulate Exhibit.' In here are Hawkkeye's Steppe Bison, Tarpan, and Borsato's Irish Elk. I have no idea if these animals would have roamed Scandinavian countries while they were alive but I couldn't resist putting one of RDingFT's ported AOE2 buildings as a scenery backdrop. It's called the 'Viking Borgund Stave Church' and looks absolutely breathtaking in amongst the snowy pines, chopped wood and dead foliage. ^ enclosed within the exhibit guests are welcome to explore the various hatcheries: bird, fish, and dinosaur located in one area. ^ the 'Martian Crash Site' area, which I designed to make it appear as though a ship crash landed into the zoo, and afterwards the higher zoo management decided to profit off of the derelict parts. This area needs serious revamping and I honestly cannot wait to trash it because I hate looking at it lol. ^ Hot dogs and nachos in between the hot air balloon thrill rides, because I'm a terrible compassionless person ^ Close-up of the Crane/snow goose viewing area. Reuben is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to utilizing set pieces and I only just now realized there's a zookeeper walking up on the wall. ^ Close-up of the veterinary hospital, memorial maze, and church garden/animal cemetary. Behind the churches and memorial pavilion, Hawkkye's Regaliceratops and Borsato's Pachycephalosaurs can be seen ^ Close-up of the cemetery ^ Close-up of the -baby- Regaliceratops and Pachycephalosaurs. According to Hawkkeye's compatibility guide, the Blue Fang in-game Styracosaurus is supposed to go along with them, but mine does not - I'm guessing this has something to do with the Combined Realism Hack by VNDragon that overhauls biomes, foliage, and dinosaur textures among other things. For the time being, I cannot add it into the exhibit with the others. ^ Close-up of the farmer's market, with the greenhouse peeking alongside ^ This area, also inspired by Reuben and connected to the Highland Ungulate Exhibit, was perhaps the most challenging that I was trying to recreate. I didn't want to outright copy him, and I wanted to challenge myself by not only experimenting with elevation but use more snow/arctic/tundra-themed pieces. This worked out for the most part, but the upper section still looks too bland and condensed in my eyes and one day I'd like to substitute the brown brick pieces with something more blue in color. It is well past time for me to learn how to use photoshop and make my own mods, and I look forward to experimenting. I will most likely be transforming this area to look as much like a ski lift as the game engine allows me to make it. Until then, thanks for taking the time to view this thread! I still have so, so much more space to fill and I hope you're as excited to see the results as I am! My wrist is killing me and I need to go to bed lol. Edit: I started this zoo on September 7th. I've been chipping away at it since then, just to clarify. None of this was created in one single sitting I promise lol.

  40. I spent the better part of this evening working on this exhibit and I'm proud to finally show it off: This is an African ungulate exhibit featuring Hawkkeye's Angolan Giraffe, his Common Eland, and Khaydar's White Rhinoceros. Ignoring the fact that the Genghis Khan Mongol hut from RDingFT would ideally be in an Asian exhibit, I'm extremely happy with how this came out. When I remembered that Catfish and Coeur de lion made those shelter annexes, I knew I had to use them for one of Hawkkeye's giraffes. At the time of posting this, guests have not traversed into the area yet and used the annex but I know they'll be heading over there soon. Using a variety of neutral RDingFT and Genki statue and foliage, pieces, I created a lush sanctuary for the ungulates to live in and they're very content. They get along with each other famously and gave me no issues whatsoever.

  41. Great ideas @fountain and @Truly_happy, thank you! Uni starts back up tomorrow so I'll be quietly slinking into the shadows for the next few months. No more mods for a quite a while I'm afraid. You'll likely see the the balloon animal stand up and available within the next couple weeks though! Normally I like to tease my next project at the end of a previous one but all I'll say is I will have plenty of goodies ready for the holidays again. :) Look out for my hacking projects though, that might get some new life soon...code is a lot more accessible to me at school. Can't say any of it would be as interesting as a dancing clown. Thanks for following my updates and see you later! It was fun.

  42. Thank you for sharing your Blender process! I can't imagine how much more time I'd be spending on these projects starting from zero. Here is the final version. Ignore the weird stuttering--the gif loop stops at an awkward frame. This is running in-game this time.: I just noticed that bird and it's honestly taking everything in me not to go back and record it all over again lol. The final version isn't a one-to-one of the proof-of-concept gif I posted last night. Since then I've had to cut back on colors and decrease the number of frames to make Zoot happy, so the water sadly looks less compelling. I could probably keep hacking away at it and improve it some more but I've been having some health issues the past few days (I can't completely close my jaw right now and it's freaking me out ?...tmi sorry). I removed the waterfall reflections to mimic the simplicity of the original game's fountains and it helped me cut back on colors for one extra frame... I added a motion blur effect to the water--the water beds are moving quite fast so I thought giving it a better sense of gravity would make sense. There's a few more things I would change or do better but at this point I think I'm ready to move on as school is starting to pick up this week and well, the whole jaw thing might be important to have looked at...lol. Rotations and icons are done and configuration is mostly all there. Should be released soon along with the assets!

  45. Thought I'd share some of my zoos I've developed since I started playing classic Zoo Tycoon earlier this week. Also, to be honest I try to approach my designs for exhibits and environments with a "natural" feeling, which is why they might look a bit different from the standards programmed for the actual animals. But in all, I just wanted to show some realistic immersion. Here's my first zoo, the Lebanon National Park Zoo. This nice little zoo features a forest trail adorn with foliage, as well as guest essentials such as picnic stations, a reptile house, amphibian house, a two-story inn with dining services and a gift shop and plenty of fun little attractions for both kids and adults alike. The residential animals are listed below, and I've tagged those I was able to snap a clear shot in my snapshots from their habitats. White-Shoulder Ibis (Pseudibis davisoni) Eurasian Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) Malayan Porcupine (Hystrix brachyura) Eastern Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca) Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo) Mountain Paca (Cuniculus taczanowskii) Black Tamarin (Saguinus ursulus) Cotton-Top Tamarin (Saguinus oedipus) Maned Wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) African Civet (Civettictis civetta) Indian Peafowl (Pavo cristatus) Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta) Mountain Gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) Himalayan Black Bear (Ursus thibetanus laniger) North American River Otter (Lontra canadensis) Common (Harbor) Seal (Phoca vitulina)

  46. Real life has been busy so not much progress on the above works -- my designs always skid a little on the last hump before release, because I keep wanting to run more tests! ...and as I smooth the process of making and recoloring animals, I get more ambitious. A quick project from the other day here... a Giraffe Pack! In the AZA, there were at one point three giraffe programs: Reticulated giraffe, Baringo giraffe, and Masai giraffe. It was later found the Reticulated and Baringo giraffes had been hybridized and so they form the majority of giraffe in zoos here. The Masai giraffe has a separate program but does not breed as well; it is also included in Zoo Tycoon 2. I still wanted all three species represented ingame, so I made Baringo and Masai as new species. As far as I know, no designer has ever made a Masai giraffe before for this game. After talking with a zt2 designer, Jorge Gabriel, I also made West African, Thorncroft's and Angolan giraffes. Right now, all five giraffe types use the same stats. I intend to tweak them but I do need to research a little the best way to do so. I am open to ideas or suggestions.

  49. Good news everyone! I've gotten access to my old postimg account and there's a good amount of screenshots from this thread in there! I'll go back and update the posts when I get time to go through them, but until now here's some screens from the unfinished zoo in that first post (the sauropsid zoo). "ZOO" topiary park and flamingoes. Ostriches & covered walkway. This was from back when I had just finished the Aldabra tortoises! Komodos & Saltwater crocs. Second view of that. The odd Sea Turtle tank with the aviary cage sides. And I found some shots from a few other various builds: Showcase of the concrete wall set from way back when (I think these are available in my Google Drive folder in my signature.) I think this was a preview shot for the Cattails. The preview image for the Red Panda from the example zoo I made for them. These are wide shots from the red panda example zoo, based on Caddienoah's Urbanville Wildlife Park workbench -- the first is downscaled, blurry, and hard to make out, but I don't seem to have another copy of it -- the second is full size and crisp. Example builds for showcasing the Green Algae (available in the Google Drive, not sure if they made it to release here?) Preview image of various prehistoric foliage I made for P.Rex's "No Grass Please" Dino Digs mod in action, these are also available individually in the Google Drive. The next few are from the "Route 66" themed zoo map from a contest I was part of a couple of years ago with the Firebirds. The zoo starts in "Chicago" and ends at the "Santa Monica Pier" with a road in between that passes over biome areas the real Route 66 passes through. I loved setting this up! Not sure if anyone else has pictures of the finished zoo (this is just the base map) but this is the zoo our "Route 66 Caddy" download was made for, that's the only thing I have screenshots of from the build itself. I also found several fairly recent shots on my PC that I must not have posted in this thread at all, they've got Khaydar's and Borsato's animals in them so they must be from earlier this year. Insect house & surrounding exhibit with Arthropleura. False Killer Whale setup with sunken viewing area and raised viewing deck. Area with flowerbed parks and Firehawke's Greenhouse Complex. "Vendor area" with market stall. This isn't everything I lost from this thread, I don't seem to have any of the shots from the "Horsetail Island Wildlife Park" from page 2, but maybe someone else has some screenshots saved from that. Better than nothing though! Thanks again for the kind words.
